Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Launched with Foldable Display, Snapdragon 888 SoC

The release of the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has been in talks for quite some time, and now the company has finally shown its second effort at a dual-screen tablet. Although the new Surface Duo 2 maintains the same design as the first-generation product, the company claims to address many of its shortcomings. The Surface Duo 2’s dual-screen design allows it to run two apps at the same time. Microsoft also stated that it has collaborated with developers and gaming studios to bring 150 dual-screen games to consumers.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Pricing

Glacier and Obsidian are the two colour options for the new Surface Duo 2. The Surface Duo 2 will be available on October 5th for $1499.99, alongside the freshly announced Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3, and Windows 11.

Specifications and Features

The Surface Duo 2 runs Android 11 out of the box and has two 5.8-inch PixelSense panels that expand to a bigger 8.3-inch viewing area after unfolding the device. When the device is folded, there is also a look bar that allows you to access all of your notifications. When charging, you may also use the glance bar to check battery levels without having to unfold the phone. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC powers the Surface Duo 2; which is a major upgrade over the Snapdragon 855 that powered the first-generation Surface Duo.

The new Microsoft Surface Duo 2 comes with a triple rear camera module. It includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 12-megapixel primary wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Microsoft claims to have increased information sharing between the two screens and optimised apps to take full advantage of both screens.

The Surface Duo 2 has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity. The phone also comes with a dedicated cover where Surface Slim Pen can be attached for a better user experience. The Surface Duo 2 also has a fingerprint sensor on the side.
