According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple might cancel the iPhone SE 4 or push its mass production to 2024. The company might take this step due to reduced demand for mid and low-end iPhone models like the iPhone SE (2022) and iPhone 14 Plus. Kuo released this news via a series of tweets on Twitter.
The company’s most popular models have been the Pro and Pro Plus versions in the past few years. Its experiments with the mid to low-end versions haven’t worked out well for the brand. The handset might be delayed or scrapped entirely due to high manufacturing costs, recession, and low sales of ‘affordable’ iPhones.

Apple iPhone SE 4 Features and Reasons for its cancellation
Reports suggest that the Apple handset might have the same design as the iPhone XR and come with a 6.1-inch LCD screen. It will likely feature a notch and thin bezels instead of the iPhone 8-like thick bezels design. This, the analyst suggests, would increase its manufacturing cost. As a result, the company might be forced to reconsider the positioning of this handset in its lineup.
The handset has an IP67 rating and a 3,000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging and 7.5W wireless charging. The device will more likely use the Apple A16 Bionic processor. However, it may use A15 SoC found on the iPhone 14 lineup. The device may use a 12-megapixel sensor on the back and a 7-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
Kuo says that this reduced demand for cheaper iPhone models might not be the only reason for cancelling or postponing the handset. However, it can also be an attempt from the company to put a hold on unnecessary new product development to manage the challenges posed by the global economic recession in 2023. However, the news of its cancellation is not yet official, and we expect to know more in the coming days.
