  • Google New Release Delayed: As reported by The Information, Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, decides to delay the launch date of new release. The new release is customized chip for Pixel smartphones until 2025. The report, citing two sources familiar with the matter. They state that Google had initially planned to release the chip, internally known as Redondo, next year. The purpose was to replace the semicustom chips currently designed in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Additionally, the report mentions that Google will transition from Samsung to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) for the production of chips.

    Among its clientele, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, serves prominent companies like Apple and Nvidia. The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, while TSMC declined to comment.

    According to The Information, Google has opted to continue its partnership with Samsung for another year and defer the introduction of its internally code-named custom design chip, Laguna, until 2025. According to the report, the Laguna chip will be utilizing TSMC’s cutting-edge 3-nanometer manufacturing process. The same presently considers the most advanced chipmaking process globally.

    During Google’s I/O event in May, the company unveiled the Google Pixel 7a and Google Pixel Fold smartphones. Both smartphones are powered by the in-house Tensor G2 SoC. The Tensor G2 SoC is also present in the previous year’s Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro models. The report suggests that the upcoming Google Pixel 8 series smartphones will incorporate Google’s next-generation chipset, known as the Tensor G3 and codenamed “Zuma.” Also suggest, the Tensor G3 could feature a configuration of 9 Arm cores and 10 GPU cores, arranged in a 1+4+4 layout. This configuration might include one 3.00GHz Cortex-X3 core, four 2.45GHz Cortex-A715 cores, and four 2.15GHz Cortex-A510 cores.
