iPhone 8 remains one of the best flagship phones present in the market. However, it does not improve much on the Apple iPhone 7. But it has to be said that whatever little changes have been made, they are commendable, making it a worthy recommendation for iPhone fans.

iPhone 8 price in India is Rs. 38,170. As of March 17, 2023, you can find the 2GB RAM and 64GB storage version of the Apple iPhone 8 on Amazon at the current market price.

Other options include 2GB RAM and 128GB storage for Rs. 39,999 and 2GB RAM and 256GB storage for Rs. 54,999.

The Apple iPhone 8 comes in four colours: Gold, Red, Silver, and Space Grey. Also, the device is slim and lightweight, making it comfortable to hold and use. This makes it great for those who are always on the move.

Apple iPhone 8 Design 

iPhone 8 comes with one of the most significant design changes which are the introduction of a glass rear – dismissing the aluminium body that they continued since iPhone 5. The reason is simple – iPhone 8 comes with wireless charging. However, when it comes to shape, size, and look, iPhone 8 cannot be separated from its predecessors. It is just a millimeter thicker, taller, and wider than iPhone 7. It adds 10g of weight over iPhone 7, but it will sit on your palm comfortably. One of the drawbacks is found on the display which arrives with chunky bezels – something which Samsung and LG have already dropped. Apple has not restored the headphone jack, making a clear statement that it won’t be returning on iPhones anymore.

iPhone 8 arrives with a 4.7-inch IPS display having a resolution of 750×1334 and a pixel density of 326ppi which is a similar display to the iPhone 7. However, it does add a feature called True Tone display technology on the panel. This feature monitors the ambient light around the phone and makes sure that it adjusts itself based on the lighting conditions. It also has better contrast and stronger colours than its predecessors. Colour reproduction has also improved. However, it is not as colourful or punchy as the QHD+ AMOLED display of Galaxy S8.

iPhone 8 comes with Apple’s A11 Bionic chip. It is for the first time that Apple has fitted a hexa-core processor in its smartphone. While it is behind the octa-core processors of modern flagships, it is a necessary step upwards. Games do lag, and multitasking works smoothly. There are no grumbles even when you subject it to heavy apps. Benchmark tests put iPhone 8 at a whopping 10,170 for multicore performance, a tad bit lower than iPhone 8 Plus’ 10,472 points, but Galaxy Note 8 scores only 6,564 in the same test.

iPhone 8 has a 12MP rear camera on the iPhone 8 arriving with an  f/1.8 aperture. Daylight photos are clear and capture a good level of details. They provide punchy colours, and the app gives you the ability to swipe sideways so that you could get instant access to the Instagram-friendly square mode. The tap-to-focus feature works well and locks on to subjects very quickly. The colour reproduction of photos is quite good. However, it is not the same when the lights become dim. The camera fails to capture enough details in low-light shots. It takes time to take the focus when a subject is nearby, however, if it does detect the subject, it can capture impressive shots.

Apple has a 7MP selfie camera which comes with a FullHD video recording capabilities, and the screen flash can help you to brighten up your selfies. It is a decent front camera and captures above-average selfies for Instagram and Facebook posts.

iPhone 8 introduces 4K video recording at 60fps  along with 240fps slow motion shooting at FullHD 1080p. The camera app is not difficult to use and keeps the setting to a minimum so that the speed does not falter. It performs well and is quite user-friendly.

Apple iPhone 8 Battery 

iPhone 8 has a 1,821 mAh battery which is quite small, and even smaller than the iPhone 7’s 1,960mAh juice-pack. However, it performs quite well and can chug through the entire day with light to moderate tasks. Moderate tasks like music playing, gaming and working on emails saw it reach 20% from a full charge status at 7 am. One of the best development of iPhone 8 is the wireless charging. It supports Qi wireless charging, so many wireless pads are compatible with the phone.

Apple iPhone 8 Verdict 

iPhone 8 seems like a minor upgrade of iPhone 7S. It adds a few points but is mostly unchanged. However, it remains an excellent smartphone with premium qualities which has a great camera and a powerful processor under its hood. Wireless charging is a valuable addition and works well. However, as per Apple’s standards, it is not their flagship product and appears to be second best. A worthier handset would be Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact which is a direct match with iPhone 8 but with better cameras and sizable battery.
