  • Updating details on your Aadhaar card will now cost more. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised the update charges for demographic, biometric, and document-related information. This is the first fee hike in almost five years. The new rates will remain valid till September 30, 2028, after which they will be reviewed again.

    New Aadhaar Update Fee Structure

    New Aadhaar Update Fee

UIDAI has increased the cost for Aadhaar updates at enrollment centres. Changes can be related to your name, address, phone number, fingerprints, iris data, or documents linked with your Aadhaar.

New fees as per UIDAI notification:

    • Demographic updates (Name, Address, Gender, Date of Birth, Phone Number): Rs 75 (earlier Rs 50)
    • Biometric updates (Fingerprints, Iris, Photograph): Rs 125 (earlier Rs 100)
    • Document update: Rs 75
    • Fee validity: Up to September 30, 2028

    Free updates for children:

    • Biometric updates at age 5
    • Second update between age 5 and 7
    • Third update between age 15 and 17

These updates for children remain free of cost as part of UIDAI’s regular schedule for biometric verification.

UIDAI also offers doorstep Aadhaar enrolment and update services for people who cannot visit centres. However, this convenience has also become costlier.

    New doorstep Aadhaar service charges:

    • Home enrolment/update visit (first person): Rs 700 (including GST)
    • Additional members from same household: Rs 350 per person

This service includes biometric and demographic updates done at home through authorized Aadhaar operators. The revised Aadhaar update fee 2025 reflects UIDAI’s effort to cover operational and service costs while continuing free services for children. Residents are advised to visit official Aadhaar enrolment centres or book home visits only through verified service providers.
