Motorola Edge 70 Max vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: Design and Display
Motorola has maintained a premium design language across both smartphones. Both feature curved corners, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, and MIL-STD-810H certification for improved durability. However, they differ noticeably in size and ergonomics.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max is the larger device, measuring 164 x 77 x 8.3mm and weighing 221 grams. Its glass back and aluminium frame give it a premium feel, but the larger battery also makes it noticeably heavier. The Edge 70 Pro, on the other hand, is much slimmer at 6.99mm (depending on the finish) and weighs between 183g and 190g, making it easier to handle for prolonged use.
Display quality is excellent on both phones. The Edge 70 Max features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an incredible 7,000 nits peak brightness, making it one of the brightest smartphone displays available. Meanwhile, the Edge 70 Pro packs a slightly smaller 6.78-inch AMOLED display with the same 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and up to 5,200 nits peak brightness.
If you prefer the brightest display and a larger screen for gaming and entertainment, the Edge 70 Max has the advantage. However, users who prefer a lighter and slimmer phone may find the Edge 70 Pro more comfortable.

Motorola Edge 70 Max vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: Camera and Battery
The biggest difference between these two smartphones lies in the camera system.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max features a 50MP Sony LYTIA primary camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. It captures detailed photos and supports 4K video recording, but it lacks a dedicated telephoto camera.
Meanwhile, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro offers a far more versatile triple-camera setup, including a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. It also features a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, compared to the 32MP front camera on the Edge 70 Max.
If photography is your priority, especially portraits and zoom shots, the Edge 70 Pro is the better choice.
Battery life, however, favours the Edge 70 Max. It packs a massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, compared to the 6,500mAh battery on the Edge 70 Pro. Both support 90W TurboPower charging, but the Edge 70 Max also supports 25W Qi2 wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging, whereas wireless charging on the Pro is region-dependent and reverse charging is wired.
If battery life and charging flexibility matter most, the Edge 70 Max takes the lead.

Motorola Edge 70 Max vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: Performance and Software
Performance is where the Motorola Edge 70 Max clearly pulls ahead. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset built on a 3nm process, paired with the Adreno 829 GPU. This flagship processor delivers significantly better CPU and GPU performance, making it ideal for demanding games, video editing, AI features, and long-term performance. It is also paired with UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring faster app loading and file transfers.
The Motorola Edge 70 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme, which is still a powerful upper mid-range chipset. Combined with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, it handles everyday multitasking, gaming, and productivity smoothly. However, it cannot match the raw performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, especially in graphics-intensive workloads.
Both smartphones run Android 16 with Motorola’s clean Hello UI, offering a near-stock Android experience with useful Moto AI features, minimal bloatware, and a promised three major Android OS upgrades.
If gaming, flagship performance, and future-proof hardware are your priorities, the Motorola Edge 70 Max is the stronger option.

Verdict
The Motorola Edge 70 Max and Motorola Edge 70 Pro are designed for different users. If you want flagship performance, a brighter display, a massive 7,100mAh battery, and Qi2 wireless charging, the Edge 70 Max is the better choice. However, if camera versatility, a dedicated periscope lens, and a lighter design matter more, the Edge 70 Pro offers better overall value.
