After giving hints about it’s designs centric LG Velvet smartphone, the company has gone a step out of the market trends by introducing an old-school looking flip phone, Folder 2.
LG Folder 2 Specifications
The LG Folder 2 is a dual-display smartphone with a decently large 2.8-inch QVGA primary display with 320× 240-pixel resolution and a secondary 0.9-inch monochrome screen mostly for taking a quick glance at the notifications when the device is folded. This secondary screen is enough to check text messages, calls, time, battery life and signal status. Weighing just 127 grams, the device measures 107.9x55x18 mm.
The internals are weak with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor under the hood. It is a 1.1 GHz quad-core chipset paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and Adreno 304 GPU for graphics. The internal memory is however expandable to 32GB with the help of microSD card. There’s an adequate 1470 mAh battery to juice up the device. There is a single 2MP camera on the back.

The device gets all the connectivity features that you can get in a modern-day smartphone. This includes Radio FM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. The Folder 2 comes with Wi-Fi and is 4G enabled and we also get a data security lock option to keep a check on data usage.
Old-school physical keys such as a SOS key along with Hotkey buttons can also be seen on the device. Located alongside the camera at the back, the SOS key can help call a pre-registered number by pressing it three times within 1.5 seconds. The receiver also gets a text message sharing the location of the sender. The Hotkey, on the other hand, can be used for utilising AI-based services which depend on carriers.

The LG Folder is presently launched in South Korea and comes with a price tag of KRW198,000 which converts to around Rs 12,405. Surprised right? The price isn’t that great as we can get a far better design, hardware and software configuration at a much less price. This makes the device purely meant for those who want a smartphone with the old-school nostalgic feel at an affordable price point.
