Infinix Smart 5 features a stylish gem-cut-design which creates a subtle pattern and colour variation in every angle. Available in Ice Blue, Midnight Black, and Quetzal Cyan colours which are stunning to look at, and for a second it gives off a premium look. The body is made up of plastic while the front side is made up of glass. All the ports and buttons are placed for easy access by the user. The teardrop notch at the front and the triple camera in a rectangular setup give the phone a unique and fresh look.
Infinix Smart 5 sports a Waterdrop sunlight display which promises to provide a clear and broader view for a better mobile experience. It is a 6.6-inch IPS TFT display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The teardrop notch takes up a small part of the screen which in turn is less obstructive while viewing some content.
Infinix Smart 5 sports an octa-core processor which is not disclosed by Infinix but it clocks up to 1.8GHz. The processor while being octa-core; but the clock speeds may be a bit underperforming while some heavy task is being done. There is a single storage option of 64GB which is paired with 3GB of memory. While this configuration is adequate for everyday use but the processor remains a bit of a worry.
Infinix Smart 5 is preloaded with Android 10 Go Edition, which is a good decision considering the processor may be a bit on the weak side. There is Infinix’s in-house XOS 6 layered on top of the Android 10 Go Edition.
Infinix Smart 5 boasts a triple camera setup of 13MP+QVGA+QVGA at the back with a triple rear flashlight setup. This is advertised to capture clearer, brighter, and more beautiful photos effortlessly with the help of AI Enhancement. The maximum image size capable of capture is 4863×2736 pixels and video capture with this is touted up to 1080P at 30fps.
The front camera is a single 8MP camera with a dual front flash setup. The maximum image capture is rated at 3264×2448 pixels and video capture is the same as the rear camera at 1080P at 30 fps. The front camera also has an automatic retouching feature to provide a perfect selfie to the user. Infinix has equipped the front camera with a new intelligent algorithm to make every snap impeccable. There are many great sample shots posted on the site but the actual performance is yet to be seen.
Infinix Smart 5 is equipped with a massive 5000mAh battery, which is more than enough for a smartphone with these specifications. There is reportedly 33 hours of talk time and a massive 35 days of standby time. It has a 10W charging speed but for a battery this big, even 10W of charging will take a long-time charge fully.
Infinix Smart 5 is a smartphone that is smartly specked by Infinix and the 5000mAh battery is just the icing on the cake. The octa-core processor should be plenty but heavy applications may struggle to run; so don’t expect mid-range level performance from this one. The pricing will decide if this phone is worth buying.
