Google is set for its next-gen Google Pixel 8 series launch event. The event will comprise both Pixels i.e. Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro alongside Google Pixel Watch 2. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming ‘Made by Google’ event on October 4, 2023.
Google Pixel 8 Series Launch Date & How To Watch
Google announced the ‘Made by Google’ event hours after Apple confirmed the ‘Wonderlust’ event to be held on September 12. Google will hold its prestigious Made by Google event on October 4 at 7:30 PM IST / 10 AM ET local time in New York City, United States.
The Google Pixel 8 series will make its big splash at the event. The series comprises Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. We have heard rumours about another Pro version too although it seems like the model may not be up for grabs at least for now. Google Pixel Watch 2 will also make its debut too as Google mentioned that it will introduce the latest additions apart from the Pixel devices.
As usual, the event will be held in person with the invites already gone out to prominent members in the tech community. The event will be aired online via Google’s YouTube channel as well as GoogleStore.com/events. The event commences at 10 AM local time (NY, USA) which translates to 7.30 PM IST.
Google Pixel 8 & Pixel 8 Pro Specifications
For starters, both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will sport Google Tensor G3 SoC. Built using 2022 ARMv9 cores, the GPU uses four Cortex-A510s, four Cotex-A715s cores plus a single Cortex-X3 high-frequency core clocked at 3.0GHz surpassing the previous gen G2 SoC by a tonne.
Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to sport a 6.7” 120Hz QHD+ LTPO OLED panel with a punch-hole cut-out for the front 10.8MP camera. The rear camera assembly consisting of a triple cam array is laid horizontally on a visor akin to Pixel 7 Pro. However, Google has included all the sensors in a single giant pill-shaped cut-out. The rear assembly on the Pixel 8 Pro features a 50MP camera with OIS, 64MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto shooter. But again, a different source says the Pixel 8 will use a 12MP ultrawide camera instead so let’s keep the figures crossed.
Moving ahead, we have a beefy 4,950 mAh battery taking the performance by store paired alongside a subtle 27W fast charging tech. There’s Android 14 on top for sure. When it comes to Pixel 8, there are a few cutbacks here. The display is slightly smaller at 6.17” 1080×2400 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will lose the telephoto snapper and instead, will have a 50Mp primary plus 12MP ultrawide snapper while the front-facing remains unchanged. Finally, we have a 4,485 mAh battery under the hood paired with a 24W fast charging tech.
Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are yet to confirm their specifications. We do know a lot about the duo, however, these are based on reports and leaks and thus, take it with a pinch of salt.

Google Pixel Watch 2 Availability in India
The original Google Pixel Watch didn’t make its way towards Indian shores. However, the upcoming Pixel Watch 2 is here to change the outlook. Turns out Google is eyeing towards expanding its presence tapping into newer markets and India seems the unforgettable starting point as it is the largest smartwatch market with a market share of 27% in Q1 2023 leaving North American (26%) behind on a global scale.
With that being said, Google announced that the Google Pixel Watch 2 will launch officially on a global stage in New York on October 4th sharing the stage with Pixel 8 series. The very next day, i.e. October 5, the Pixel Watch 2 will make its official debut in India via Flipkart with the shipments starting soon. That’s a heck of a news, right? Google Pixel Watch 2 Specifications
Just recently, Google shared the teaser for the Google Pixel Watch 2 showing the upcoming smartwatch in its whole glory. The watch looks similar to the original Pixel Watch though albeit with a new rotating crown design, smoother, thinner stem, and rounder shape and the microphone has been relocated next to the crown.
Google confirmed that the upcoming Pixel Watch 2 is IP68 certified. Yep, unlike the predecessor, the Pixel Watch 2 gets an IP68 rating towards dust and water. There’s SpO2, sleep tracking, and a heart rate sensor onboard that will track your vitals. In addition, there’s EDA or electrodermal activity that tracks stress levels for better management.
Talking about the specs sheet, the Pixel Watch 2 is rumoured to get a 306mAh battery (larger than the original Pixel), 4G LTE eSIM support, Snapdragon W5 Gen1 SoC under the hood paired alongside 32GB eMMC storage and 2GB of RAM. A circular, curved, and bezel-less 1.2” OLED panel takes center stage boasting 384×384 pixels resolution with a high PPI compared to the original Pixel watch.
The last thing that we are aware that could make it to Pixel Watch 2 is the ultra-wideband (UWB) support that allows for various functionalities including car unlocking, and precise device finding, among others.
