GhostWire: Tokyo Story

As you can understand from the game’s name, GhostWire: Tokyo is a supernatural action game. While you may have come across similar stories in TV shows or movies, GhostWire: Tokyo takes a unique spin on it.

The game opens with Akito, the protagonist, discovering that almost all of Tokyo’s inhabitants have vanished mysteriously. Instead of regular humans, supernatural spirits called Visitors are roaming the streets. KK then possesses Akito, who’s a magical spirit detective. Although he has his ideas, KK decides to help Akito survive the situation and grants him powers. Ultimately, Akito will have to deal with strangers who might help him understand Tokyo’s situation.

GhostWire: Tokyo Gameplay

GhostWire: Tokyo changes the usual action-adventure gameplay to a great extent. It’s played from the first-person view. Instead of using guns, you use supernatural abilities and psychic powers to defeat your enemies. The combat director for this upcoming PC game has described the gameplay as “karate meets magic”. Once you look at the gameplay, you’ll realize that this is an accurate description.

Spells are cast using hand gestures inspired by traditional Japanese hand movements. If you attack an enemy long enough and lower their health, their core will be exposed. Akito can then perform a powerful takedown to finish off the enemy. Spells are also used for traversing around the big open world. Expect unlocking the ability to fly/glide after a few hours into the game!

The Developers of GhostWire: Tokyo

GhostWire: Tokyo is developed by Tango Gameworks. These are the same developers behind the very successful horror series, The Evil Within. Although they specialize in videogames for the horror genre, GhostWire: Tokyo is mostly an action-adventure game with horror elements.

Tango Gameworks is known for its exceptional gameplay, stories, and ability to craft excellent atmospheres. I’m sure that this game will live up to the hype with developers of this calibre.

Features on PlayStation 5

As you can see from the system requirements, GhostWire: Tokyo is a demanding game. The game does look fantastic, and the developers have added a whole host of features to the PlayStation 5 version. To visit Tokyo in all its haunted glory, the PlayStation 5 version will feature Dynamic 4K, Ray Tracing, and HDR. Moreover, the game runs at a smooth 60FPS on the console.
