Just a day after the Government of India made an announcement giving a nod to e-commerce websites like Amazon, Snapdeal, and Flipkart among others to take orders to certain non-essential items, the order has been reversed. According to the reports, Amazon and Flipkart released banners announcing the return of delivery of non-essential items starting April 20. However, they will have to wait for the lockdown to end on May 3 to resume taking orders.
Currently, both Amazon and Flipkart have restricted taking orders and delivery of medical items and groceries only. Both the e commerce giant took to the social media with heavy banners on their websites announcing they will be resuming taking up orders and delivery of certain electronic items such as air conditioners, mobiles, refrigerators, and TVs, etc.

This is when the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) counterpointed the exemption made for ecommerce companies granted earlier. This is when MHA reversed its orders now excluding the permission for ecommerce companies to carry out non-essential trade.
India was under a massive lockdown till March 31st before PM Narendra Modi extended the ban till April 14th and then, it was re-extended to May 3. Within the lockdown period, non-essential trade is deemed to be temporarily banned. This is why Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart and a lot of other ecommerce companies resorted to delivering essential items as said above. However, the exemption made by MHA during this coronavirus pandemic was a relief for both ecommerce sites as well as smartphone manufacturers like Realme and Xiaomi and others who are waiting to launch their devices in India.

Anyways, the order has been reversed completely and now, both the customers and e-commerce companies have to wait for May 3 when the lockdown will end and hopefully, every sector will resort back to normalcy in coming weeks.
