Vivo V9 Youth is a cheaper and lower variant of the Vivo V9. Priced at Rs. 12,499, this phone is trying to make a mark in the hearts of the people with a smaller budget.

However, the trimmings of Vivo V9 Youth is very significant and misplaced. It goes down significantly on the processor, making this phone a poor performer. Neither does any aspect of the phone stand out. It is not a recommended model.

Vivo V9 Youth looks almost like the Vivo V9. It is a plastic body. In the back of the Black model, you get the fingerprint scanner which has a gold border around it. The gold rims are also found in around the camera module. It gives the phone a premium touch. The phone has curved angles, which makes it comfortable to hold. On its sides, it contains the volume rocker button and the power button, which is well-placed and easy to reach. It does come with a headphone jack, but it opts for the older micro-USB port and not the newer USB Type-C port. It becomes apparent with the charging of the phone.

The Vivo V9 Youth has a 6.30-inch display which has a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and 400ppi pixel density. It comes with the new 19:9 aspect ratio. As far as the display goes, the phone keeps it quite potent. The colours are kept bright and sharp due to the adequate pixel density. Due to the thin bezels, you can also get an incredible immersive experience.

Vivo V9 Youth gets its power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor which is an octa-core clocked at 1.8GHz. It is a weak entry-level processor and is a stark fall from the 600-series chipset that the V9 opts for. While the phone does have a good 4GB, it is not enough to handle intensive tasks. The phone struggles when several apps are running simultaneously. Gaming on this phone is a laggy experience, especially if you opt for graphics-intensive games like PUBG. Light games, however, can run fine on this set without any noticeable lags.

The Vivo V9 Youth packs two cameras on its rear module. It has a 16MP camera along with a 2MP camera for depth sensing. The quality of the photos on the rear camera is quite good. It captures the details well enough and keeps the photos colourful. Plus, you can also click bokeh shots on this phone, which has decent edge detection. It’s not very high though since it tends to bleed into the subjects. For the front, you are offered a 2MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. As far as the selfies are concerned, the front camera is quite good with adequate bokeh effects. However, the beauty effect can seem a bit artificial.

The Vivo V9 Youth gets its fuel from a 3,260mAh battery. It is a decent battery with the capacity to hold its own for an entire day. The display is not that strong to drain the battery too much. The battery of Vivo V9 Youth is a reliable one. However, it fails to provide fast charging, and so, it might take nearly 2 hours to get to full charge from 0%.

The Vivo V9 Youth arrives with a redundant design. However, there are some useful pointers to it. It has a juicy battery along with a good display. However, while it is a lower version of the V9, the processor is demoted terribly, bringing in a weaker substitute. The processing of this phone is inferior. It is not a recommended set as at the price range. There are better models present in the market.
