Tecno Camon 17P is the latest mid-range device from the Tecno brand. Tecno Camon 17P features the potential to be the next mid-range killer with its powerful processor, a large battery and cameras. So, here is a brief review of the Tecno Camon 17P for knowing all the offerings of this latest smartphone and to check whether it really is a mid-range killer or not. 

Tecno Camon 17P Price in India 

In India, the Tecno Camon 17P is expected to be priced around Rs.17,990. On August 26, 2021, Tecno Camon 17P is scheduled to be released in India. This is the base edition of the Tecno Camon 17P with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, and it will be available in Frost Silver, Magnet Black, and Spruce Green colours. The actual pricing will be updated once the Tecno Camon 17P comes to the Indian smartphone market. 

The design and build quality are the same as we have seen in the Tecno Camon 17 Pro. There is a vertical camera setup on the top left corner and the rear panel is made of polycarbonate.  There is no dust and water resistance and the smartphone features a punch-hole design on the front with a slim chin at the bottom. The overall design looks stylish, however, the Camon branding on the rear panel looks absurd to some extent. 

The power button is located on the right edge doubling up as the fingerprint sensor along with the volume rocker. There is a Type-C charging port at the bottom, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, microphone and speaker grille.  Given the large battery inside, the overall weight of the Tecno Camon 17P might be bulky. However, from an appearance point of view, the smartphone looks cool. 

If you are looking for a higher refresh rate here, then first things first, Tecno Camon 17P carries a normal refresh rate display measuring 6.8-inches and featuring FHD+ resolution. The other features include 500 nits of brightness, a pixel density of 395 PPI along with an 82% screen to body ratio. The overall multimedia experience will be immersive here. 

Performance-wise, Tecno Camon 17P is very solid. For the given price tag, the MediaTek Helio G85 is very decent and along with 128GB internal storage and  6GB RAM, you’ll have a decent performance. You can play the games in medium graphics settings, however, don’t expect the heating issues to be totally eliminated here. 

As for the connectivity, there is no 5G, the smartphone supports 4G networks. Also, Tecno Camon 17P runs on the HIOS OS based on Android 11. But keep this thing in mind that the bloatware is still present there. 

The camera configurations on Tecno’s Camon series smartphones are well-known, and the same has been done here. Tecno Camon 17P’s front camera, a 16MP selfie camera capable of high performance, is the smartphone’s main attraction. This is mostly intended to appeal to people seeking the best photography phone for the price.

The rear side features a 64 MP Quad-camera setup. Composed of a 64MP main camera, followed by an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP Bokeh camera. The rear camera supports Time Lapse in 2K resolution.

When it comes to battery performance, you are being provided with a 5000 mAh large battery. Tecno Camon 17P supports 18W fast charging as well. For connecting the charger there is a Type-C charging port.

Tecno Camon 17P is equipped with some of Tecno’s best-in-class features, ensuring a smooth operative experience. You’ll be able to shoot 2K time-lapse recordings and capture completely clear photos even at night. A strong Processor and battery combination have also been included, ensuring lag-free multitasking for longer periods of time. So, if this device comes to India, this can be a good choice in this price segment.
