Sony introduced the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium as a model that will stun you with its futuristic display. Arriving at a price of Rs. 57,500, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium equips itself with enough specifications to stand out among its flagship competitors.

A stunning 4K display that immerses you in your games and videos is Sony Xperia Z5 Premium’s selling point. Along with that, it arrives with decent performance and the PS4 Remote Play for anyone willing owning a PS4. However, it falters with its weak battery which gets drained due to the 4K display. It is a capable phone for someone interested in watching movies on their phone. If you are a seeker of a power-packed, long-lasting phone, then Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is not the phone to go for.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a clear glass back which is a fingerprint smudge magnet. It is quite hefty at 180g, which can make it hard to manage. And with the dimensions of 154.4 x 75.8 x 7.8 mm, it is quite challenging to hold in one hand. The edges are made of aluminium with a high-gloss texture, but the shine does not make it premium – rather it makes the handset flashy. The back also makes it slippery too. The reinforced corners have been provided to protect the phone when it falls on any of those corners.

The fingerprint sensor is halfway down the right-hand side of the phone which makes it difficult to reach. The phone comes with waterproofing technology too, giving it extra security against accidental dunks.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium arrives with a potent 4K display with a 5.5-inch dimension and a fascinating 2160 x 3840-pixel resolution. Plus, it can get up to a staggering 806 pixels per inch which results in an amazingly detailed screen.

Putting it into perspective, Samsung Galaxy S6 has 571ppi. The viewing angles are quite amazing, and the display is bright. However, the brightness makes it a power-hungry screen which drains the battery fast.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with the Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB RAM. Due to the processor, the apps run smoothly without lag. Gaming is also excellent on this set, with loading time being quite fast. Multitasking is smooth, and the web pages load quickly.

Sometimes, the games can have a bit of a lag in the loading, but that’s something that could be noticed in competitors too. It has a multi-core score of 4015 in GeekBench which makes it powerful, but the score is a bit lesser than Galaxy S6 Edge+ ‘s marvellous 4949 points.

The Z5 series comes with some improvements on their cameras. Xperia Z Premium comes with another impressive development. It comes with a 23MP primary camera which will impress DSLR fans too. Plus, the 4K display makes the photos look crispier and brighter. There is a 5x Zoom included on the phone, but it tends to struggle with focus. Otherwise, the new autofocus works excellent without lag, locking on to objects quickly. However, motion objects tend to lose focus. In daylight, the images come out crisp with plenty of details.

However, at night, the colours appear duller which is a shame since the phone boasts of a beautiful 4K display.

The front 5.1MP selfie camera is potent enough to take social-media worthy snaps, but it’s not something stunning. OnePlus X comes with an 8MP front camera which performs much better. In general, you will not be disappointed with the camera.

The Xperia Z5 Premium arrives with a 3430 mAh battery. While the battery is large, the display drains a lot of juice. The battery does not turn out to be adequate. Playing a 90-minute video with maxed out battery saw it drop a whopping 31%, while competitors like iPhone 6S lose 22% and Galaxy S6 Edge + with 2K display drops 23%.

It may not run for the entire day with moderate use. However, the phone comes with fast charging and according to Sony, can get to 60% from 0 within 30 minutes which is quite fast and efficient.

The Sony Xperia X5 Premium is a capable phone which comes with a brilliant 4K display, snappy performance, PS4 Remote Play and waterproof that sets it apart from others. However, the weak battery continues to plague this phone. Plus, the phone does not look very premium and feels plasticy and cheap.

It is a phone that will please a Sony fan, a PS4 owner or a person looking for a fantastic display, but the battery makes it a poor phone, especially in this time when the battery is in demand among users.
