  • Due to the sudden rise in smartphone prices, it has become difficult for brands to launch feature-packed phones at a reasonable price. Two major brands are now competing to offer the best mid-range smartphone.

Samsung, an established brand with years of experience in both the smartphone and chipset industries, has launched the Samsung Galaxy M47 at a very competitive price with impressive specifications. On the other hand, Nothing, one of the fastest-growing and most loved brands among Gen-Z users, is set to launch the Nothing Phone (4b), which is expected to be priced under Rs. 30,000.

Moreover, most of the Nothing Phone (4b) specifications, including its design, have already been revealed. So, the big question is: which phone should you buy in the Samsung Galaxy M47 vs Nothing Phone (4b) comparison? Let’s find out.

Samsung Galaxy M47 vs Nothing Phone (4b): Design And Display

The Samsung Galaxy M47 comes with a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus. However, its Rogue Red colour grabbed my attention the most. It also features a lighter body weight of 200 grams and measures 162.4 x 78.2 x 7.8 mm.

On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (4b) retains its unique design language with the Nothing Glyph Interface. Moreover, its rear camera module has a finish that is quite similar to the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and the alleged Apple iPhone 18 Pro design.

Both phones are likely to feature the same IP64 dust and water resistance (splash protection) and are expected to offer drop resistance of up to 2 metres.

The Samsung Galaxy M47 also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both the front and back. However, the protection details for the Nothing Phone (4b) are still unconfirmed.

Talking about the display, both phones sport a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy M47 offers 800 nits (typical) and 1,400 nits (HBM) peak brightness, while the display brightness of the Nothing Phone (4b) is yet to be officially confirmed.

Overall, both smartphones share several similarities in terms of design and display. However, Samsung offers better durability and a more premium in-hand feel. Meanwhile, Nothing stands out with its unique transparent design and Glyph Interface. So, it ultimately depends on your personal preference, as I would call this round a draw.

Samsung Galaxy M47 vs Nothing Phone (4b): Camera And Battery

Samsung Galaxy M47 comes with a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP primary, 5MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro sensor. Initial confirmations suggest that the Nothing Phone (4b) will feature a 50MP primary and 8MP ultra-wide camera.

Due to its additional macro sensor, Samsung may offer more camera versatility than Nothing. On the front, the Samsung Galaxy M47 features a 12MP selfie camera, while the Nothing Phone (4b) is expected to offer a higher-resolution 32MP front camera. Both smartphones are expected to support 4K video recording at 30fps.

In terms of camera quality, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G delivers vibrant colours, sharp details, and premium-looking photos that are ideal for everyday social media sharing. Meanwhile, we have not yet seen any real-world camera samples from the Nothing Phone (4b). Therefore, it is too early to judge its camera performance, and we can only compare the hardware specifications for now.

Talking about the battery, the Samsung Galaxy M47 once again has an edge over the Nothing Phone (4b). Samsung packs a 6,000mAh battery, whereas the Nothing Phone (4b) is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery. Both smartphones are likely to support 45W fast charging, so charging speeds should remain comparable.

Considering both the camera and battery sections, the Samsung Galaxy M47 appears to have the upper hand over the Nothing Phone (4b). It offers a larger battery, a more versatile rear camera setup, and already delivers proven camera performance, making it the stronger option on paper.

Samsung Galaxy M47 vs Nothing Phone (4b): Performance And Software

Samsung Galaxy M47 is powered by the Qualcomm SM6475-AB Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) chipset, delivering smooth and reliable day-to-day performance. Similarly, the Nothing Phone (4b) is also expected to feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) processor.

Both smartphones are likely to ship with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB base storage. However, Samsung uses UFS 3.1 storage, while the Nothing Phone (4b) is expected to feature UFS 2.2 storage. So, it gives the Galaxy M47 an advantage in terms of faster app loading, file transfers, and overall responsiveness.

On the software front, the Samsung Galaxy M47 runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5. Samsung also promises six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, meaning the device is expected to receive software support until 2032. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (4b) is expected to launch with Android 16-based Nothing OS 4. However, it is unlikely to match Samsung’s long-term software update policy.

From a user interface perspective, One UI 8.5 offers a wide range of customisation options, allowing users to personalise almost every aspect of the phone. It also delivers a smooth, feature-rich, and hassle-free user experience.

On the other hand, Nothing OS 4 offers a clean and minimal interface with its signature dot-matrix design and unique icons. While the UI feels fluid and clutter-free, it does not provide the same level of customisation as Samsung’s One UI.

Overall, both smartphones offer similar performance thanks to the same chipset. However, the Samsung Galaxy M47 takes the lead with faster UFS 3.1 storage, longer software support, and a more feature-packed user interface.

    Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy M47 is the better overall choice in this comparison. It offers a bigger 6,000mAh battery, durable Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, faster UFS 3.1 storage, and Samsung’s industry-leading software support.

However, if you prefer a unique transparent design, Glyph Interface, and a cleaner Android experience, the Nothing Phone (4b) is still worth waiting for. Unless Nothing surprises with its final pricing or camera performance, the Galaxy M47 currently delivers better value for money.
