  • The Samsung Galaxy F happens to be a phone that is quite eagerly anticipated in the tech world. Earlier in November last year, Samsung shared a small glimpse of this device but declined to name it then. It is being assumed that the phone will be called the Galaxy F, as speculated by many leaks and rumors surrounding the device. The most attractive feature of this device is its flexible display. This means that you can fold the display screen to use it like a smartphone or keep it open to get a tablet size feel.

Now, obviously, this phone is still in its development stage so there is a lot that can go wrong ,and first iterations of any device are never perfect. Nevertheless, it is expected that the Galaxy F will kickstart a wider acceptance to folding smartphones and we have heard that companies such as LG, Apple, and Huawei have all applied for patents for a folding smartphone.

Samsung has described this new folding feature in its smartphone as the Infinity Flex display. The South Korean giant has plans of manufacturing somewhere around a million units of this device at the beginning and this mass production process should begin in a few months.

New reports on the Galaxy F state that the phone is likely to have two batteries with a capacity of 5,000 – 6,000 mAH.

“Possibly when we start selling the foldable phone, it may be a niche market… but definitely, it will expand. I’m positive that we do need a foldable phone.”, assures DJ Koh, CEO of Samsung’s mobile division.

Apart from that huge battery, which will be needed to power the two screens on the Galaxy F, it is also said to be coming with top of the line flagship specifications, such as 8 GB RAM to go along with 128 GB storage. Reportedly, there will also be a dual camera setup which will comprise of 12 MP sensors and also an 8 MP camera on the front. This is the same camera configuration we have seen on the flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 phones.

The price of such a display technology is also going to be high and as per reports, we can expect the device to cost somewhere around $1,600 – $1,800. The price is said to fall by 2022, to $1,300, as the technology becomes more widely accessible.
