Review Summary

The Realme Narzo 70x is the company’s latest offering with a massive 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging support. It has a fresh design and claims to offer the fastest performance in the segment.

But is it just a rebrand of the Realme 12x, or does it offer something new? I have been using the Realme Narzo 70x for a week now, and here’s my detailed review of the smartphone.

The Realme Narzo 70x sports a large circular camera module with an arc below the camera module that makes it stand apart. Furthermore, you get a massive 6.72-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

But how does the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ perform? Is the 50-megapixel primary camera any good? To find out, read my detailed review of the Realme Narzo 70x.

Realme Narzo 70x Design And Build

The Realme Narzo 70x has a similar design to its older siblings, the Realme Narzo 70 and the Realme Narzo 70 Pro. It has a large camera module in the centre and a curved arc below it.I have the Ice Blue colour of the Realme Narzo 70x for review which looks more purple rather than blue.

The phone’s plastic build and matte finish make it slippery to hold. I recommend using the included case. Regarding ergonomics, the phone is just 7.7mm thick despite packing a massive 5,000mAh battery and weighing around 188 grams.

Realme Narzo 70x Design 2

The centre of the phone has a large camera module that houses the primary and secondary camera lenses apart from the LED flash. The rest of the phone remains clean except for the Narzo branding at the bottom.

Regarding ports and placements, you get the power button and the volume rockers on the right. Furthermore, the left part of the phone remains clean while the top has a secondary speaker grille, SIM tray and microphone.

Realme Narzo 70x Bottom

At the bottom, you will be greeted by the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port and the primary speaker grille. The phone also has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

Realme Narzo 70x Camera

The Realme Narzo 70x sports a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there will be an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Unfortunately, there is no ultrawide-angle sensor, but again, this is something that is typically amiss in this price range.

During the day, the 50-megapixel primary camera can take great photos with plenty of details and vibrant colours. The company has tuned the camera to produce social media-ready outputs, which, as photos, look pleasing to the eye.

Although it has plenty of sharpness, the details get fuzzy when zoomed in. The 2-megapixel depth sensor is only good on paper and isn’t much useful.

Similarly, the phone takes decent photos with noticeable grain in night shots. Turning on the night mode can somewhat fix this, but the output isn’t anything extraordinary to write about.

Selfie Sample Realme Narzo 70x

The 8-megapixel selfie shooter takes acceptable photos with accurate skin tones, but the details are overprocessed. The primary and selfie cameras can shoot videos up to 1080p at 30 FPS. Overall, the Realem Narzo 70x provides a decent camera experience for the price.

Realme Narzo 70x Battery And Charging

The Realme Narzo 70x packs a massive 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging support. Thanks to the 4nm chipset and the large battery, the phone can easily last a day on normal usage.

During my usage, which includes scrolling through social media apps, watching videos on YouTube, and clicking photos all day, it is one of the few phones available in this price range with 45W SUPERVOOC charging.

Realme Narzo 70x Charger

Most phones offer 15W or 33W charging, so it’s great to see Realme focus on faster charging speeds. Fully charging the device using the included charging cable takes around one hour.

Realme Narzo 70x Display And Audio

The Realme Narzo 70x sports a 6.72-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and it is one of the few that I have reviewed that offer a fast refresh rate as well as a Full-HD+ display in this range. Moreover, the screen’s peak brightness is 950 nits, and its pixel density is 392ppi.

The phone has a centre punch-hole cutout and a sizeable chin at the bottom. The display provides vibrant and bright colours,s which is good despite sporting an LCD panel. You can choose between Vivid and Natural colour palettes.

Realme Narzo 70x Content Consumption

Furthermore, I enjoyed watching Season 2 of Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare on Amazon Prime Video. The phone also supports Widevine L1, which enhances the viewing experience. I also did not face any issues viewing the screen outdoors due to the 950 nits of brightness, which you can toggle by using the extra brightness mode.

Realme Narzo 70x Refresh Rate

The 120Hz refresh rate makes navigating through the user interface smooth. There are three modes: Standard (60Hz), High (120Hz), and Auto, which automatically sets the refresh rate based on the content.

Realme Narzo 70x Brightness

For audio, you get stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio and Dolby Atmos support. Moreover, they are loud enough to fill an entire room and do not distort even at the highest volume.

There is also a 200 per mode that further increases its volume. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack to plug in your earphones. Furthermore, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate

Realme Narzo 70x Performance

The Realme Narzo 70x is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM. This is the same chipset found in pricier phones like the Realme 12 5G and the Poco X6 Neo.

The phone remained smooth during day-to-day tasks, and I encountered no lags or stutters. It keeps most apps in memory, and there is also support for 8GB of virtual memory, which is excellent.

Realme Narzo 70x Gaming

Furthermore, you can easily play BGMI at Smooth and Ultra (40 FPS) while CODM runs at Medium and High Frame Rate (60 FPS). It is one of the few phones in this segment that offers these graphics settings.

Realme Narzo 70x Benchmarks

When it comes to benchmarks, the Realme Narzo 70x has a Geekbench score of 729 in single-core and 1874 in the multi-core test. Furthermore, the phone throttles to 98.8 per cent in the 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test and 94 per cent in the 15-minute CPU throttling test

In addition, the phone has an AnTuTu V10 score of 408098 and a score of 21844 in the AnTuTu storage test. Overall, the Realme Narzo 70x is a decent performer that plays most games and handles benchmarks with ease.

Realme Narzo 70x Software And UI

The Realme Narzo 70x runs on Android 14, based on Realme UI 5.0 out of the box. Furthermore, Realme promises two years of OS updates and three years of security patches, which is rare in this price range.

You get the standard Realme UI experience found on phones in this range with plenty of pre-installed apps such as Netflix, LinkedIn, Facebook, Finshell Pay, Agoda, and Public. Thankfully, you can easily uninstall these apps from the settings.

Realme Narzo 70x Bloatware

Furthermore, the phone also comes with the infamous Hot Apps and Hot Games folder, which you can disable from the App Market. Realme UI 5.0 offers various features, such as Smart Sensing, Split View, Flexible Window, Dynamic Button, Smart Sidebar, Kids Mode, Simple Mode, and Riding Mode.

However, there is a lack of animations when opening or closing apps, which feels jarring. You also get Mini Capsule 2.0, which shows notifications in a pill similar to Dynamic Island on iPhones. Furthermore, a Smart Touch feature allows you to use wet fingers on the screen.

Realme Narzo 70x User Interface

Overall, the Realme UI feels like a featured-packed experience, although Realme needs to work on the pre-installed apps, Hot Apps, and Hot Games folders. Furthermore, the constant barrage of notifications from the App Market can be overwhelming.

Verdict

The Realme Narzo 70x is an affordable 5G phone that gets two significant aspects right: price and performance. For less than Rs.15,000, it offers smooth performance and a large display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

While its 50-megapixel camera might not win any awards, it is good enough to share social media photos. Furthermore, the 5,000mAh battery can easily last a day, and you get 45W fast charging. However, you will need to contend with many pre-loaded apps apart from the presence of the Hot Apps and Hot Games folder.

Despite its minor flaws, the Realme Narzo 70x is a good choice for those looking for a decent-performing phone without burning a hole in their wallet. For a similar price, you can also consider other options like the Motorola G62 5G, Samsung Galaxy F15 5G, and the Poco M6 Pro 5G.
