Nokia XR20
Nokia XR20 Launch in India
Does the fact that Nokia has released its first rugged smartphone come as a surprise to anyone? I wouldn’t say that. Only a few weeks after Motorola Defy relaunched, HMD Global, which now controls the Nokia brand, realised the potential of that tiny but burgeoning market. The end result is the Nokia XR20, which surfaced on the internet recently powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and boasts a rugged design.
In India, Nokia has launched a new rugged smartphone that is specifically built to withstand the rigours of the outdoors. The Nokia XR20, which was announced on October 18, has a military-grade design, a 5G chipset, twin back cameras, a large battery, and water resistance. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone can withstand temperatures ranging from 55 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius, drops of up to 1.8 metres, and immersion in water for up to one hour. Here is everything that you must know before making your final decision.

Nokia XR20 Design
Nokia XR20 features a ruggedized shell that is MIL-STD810H-certified to survive 1.8-meter drops. With basic IP68 water and dust resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, the XR20 appears to be a phone that will not necessitate covers or screen protectors.
Nokia XR20 boasts dual speakers with up to 96dB sensitivity and OZO playback functionality for enhanced clarity. Biometrics are handled through a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. The Nokia XR20, on the other hand, is still quite large. The phone’s thicker edges add a centimetre or two in each direction, and it already has an XL-sized 6.67-inch screen.
Nokia XR20 Display
The Nokia XR20 screen provides some of the most compelling reasons to choose it over the less expensive Motorola Defy. It has a bigger screen, measuring 6.67 inches, making it one of the biggest available among mid-size phones. It’s also crisper, with 2400 by 1080 pixel resolution that matches the “regular” phones you can buy for similar money. The FHD+ IPS LCD has a maximum brightness of 550 nits and can be used with wet fingers or gloves.
Nokian XR20 Processor
Snapdragon 480 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 5G connectivity are included in the Nokia XR20. The lone variant of the Nokia XR20 comes with 128GB of storage, which can be extended through a microSD card slot. Nokia has committed to providing four years of monthly security updates and three years of major OS updates for the Nokia XR20, which comes pre-installed with Android 11.
Nokia XR20 Camera
Nokia XR20 features a 48MP dual-rear camera system with Zeiss optics. It also features an LED flash, a primary 48MP camera and a 13MP secondary sensor. It has an 8MP punch-hole camera to help with selfies and video calls. The camera features include ZEISS Optics, ZEISS Portrait, ZEISS Cinematic Effects, SpeedWarp mode, Action Cam mode, Night mode, Cinema mode, HDR, Beautification, Panorama and Watermark.
Nokia XR20 Battery
Lastly, the battery has a capacity of 4,630mAh, which means it will last for two full days. Wired charging at 18W and wireless charging at 15W are also available. For connecting the charger, there is a Type-C charging port at the bottom
Nokia XR20 First Impressions
Nokia XR20 is a tough phone with a mid-range price tag, and there are no startling sacrifices to suit the rugged build. A successful attempt to make 5G tough phones more affordable, although with some anticipated concessions in camera and CPU performance.
