Xiaomi could be preparing to launch its next foldable smartphone earlier than expected. The latest Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 leaks have revealed a possible look at the upcoming device, suggesting that Xiaomi may give it a wider inner display and a more tablet-like design. The company is also expected to pair the foldable with its new HyperOS 4 software, bringing a redesigned interface and new AI features.
The Mix Fold 5 could reportedly arrive in early September, potentially ahead of the Xiaomi 18 series. However, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the phone's launch date or international availability.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 Leaks Reveal Wider Inner Display
The recent leaks have shared an image of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, that shows the phone unfolded with a noticeably wider inner screen. The display is tipped to use a 4:3 aspect ratio, which could make the device feel more like a compact tablet when opened.
The leaked design also appears to feature rounded corners and a selfie camera positioned towards one corner of the inner display.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 leaked details:

The phone is also expected to benefit from Xiaomi's new HyperOS 4 software. Xiaomi says the update can reduce the total instruction count by 14.4 percent and increase available memory by 27.2 percent after eight hours of use.
HyperOS 4 introduces a new Soft Light Glass design, redesigned Lock Screen and Device Centre, stacked notifications and widgets. Super XiaoAI 2.0 will also bring features such as cross app and cross device actions, Deep Research and webpage creation.

The September launch timeline has received support from social media as well, which backed earlier reports claiming that the Mix Fold 5 could launch in early September instead of arriving with the Xiaomi 18 series later that month.

If the report is accurate, Xiaomi's foldable could arrive around the same time as Apple's first foldable iPhone, which is also rumoured to launch in September. For now, the Mix Fold 5 launch date, specifications and availability outside China remain unconfirmed.
