X has officially launched Chat, its upgraded secure messaging system that replaces the platform’s old DM feature. The X Chat Launch includes end-to-end encrypted messages, video calls, disappearing chats, and enhanced privacy controls—marking one of the biggest updates to the platform in years.
X Chat Launch-Secure Messaging Upgrade
X reveals that Chat is now available on iOS and the web, with an Android version arriving soon. All old messages will automatically move to the new system, keeping users’ conversations intact.
Chat supports end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for messages and files, making conversations more private. However, the company notes that metadata, such as timestamps and recipient information, is still visible. X also warns that man-in-the-middle attacks remain technically possible until new verification options roll out.
