  • WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new paid plan called the WhatsApp Plus premium subscription, which could offer users more ways to personalise the messaging app. According to recent reports, the upcoming subscription will include exclusive customization tools, new icons, stickers, and additional features designed to improve the overall user experience.

The core functions of WhatsApp such as messaging, voice calls, video calls, and voice notes will remain free for all users. The WhatsApp Plus premium subscription will be completely optional, meaning people can continue using the standard version of the app without paying.

Reports suggest the company is currently developing the new plan and testing several features that could be available once the subscription officially launches.

WhatsApp's premium subscription offers deeper personalisation

One of the biggest highlights of the WhatsApp Plus premium subscription is deeper personalization. Users may get the ability to change the app’s look and feel in ways that are not available in the free version.

The report claims the subscription could include several visual customization options such as:

    • 14 new WhatsApp app icons
    • Multiple interface color options
    • Custom accent colours for the app theme
    • Exclusive stickers for subscribers
    • Unique ringtones for WhatsApp calls

The new ringtones could help users quickly identify WhatsApp calls without confusing them with notifications from other apps. Exclusive stickers may also allow subscribers to access designs that are not available to regular users.

These changes aim to make WhatsApp more personal and visually flexible for users who want more control over the app’s appearance.

More Chat Management Tools May Also Arrive

The WhatsApp Plus premium subscription could also introduce new tools to help users manage conversations more efficiently. One of the reported upgrades is an increase in the number of chats that users can pin.

Currently, WhatsApp allows only three pinned chats. With the premium plan, the limit could increase significantly.

    Possible chat management upgrades include:

    • Pin up to 20 chats instead of three
    • More interactive message reactions
    • Access to exclusive stickers and future features

Alongside the subscription plan, WhatsApp is also reportedly developing a Scheduled Messages feature. This tool may allow users to write messages in advance and set them to be sent automatically at a selected date and time.

The WhatsApp Plus premium subscription is still under development. The company has not yet announced pricing details or an official launch date, but the feature is expected to arrive on both Android and iOS devices in the future.
