Vivo V2102A Appears on Geekbench; May Feature Snapdragon 898 Chipset

Vivo is all set to launch their Vivo X70 series of devices in China on September 9, 2021. However, the company seems to have other devices under their sleeve as well. Two mysterious smartphones have surfaced online. Now, we do not have any confirmation on the moniker of these devices. One is the Vivo V2130A while the other is the Vivo V2102A. The former was spotted on TENAA yesterday while the latter has now made an appearance on Geekbench. The interesting thing to note here is that the latter has been listed with the upcoming Snapdragon 898 SoC. So, most likely this will be the very first smartphone to come with this processor.

Vivo V2102A Specifications (Geekbench)

Vivo seems to be working on a new mysterious smartphone with the model number V2120A, as per the Geekbench listing. The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC. In addition, the octa-core flagship chipset will pair up with 8GB of RAM. The chipset and RAM configuration will pair up with the Adreno 730 GPU.

Further, the Snapdragon 898 SoC will be based on a 4nm architecture. The chipset will come with a peak clock speed of 2.42GHz. The processor’s clock speeds have recently been tipped by Digital Chat Station. The chipset will come with one 2.42GHz, three 2.17GHz and 1.79GHz clock speeds for the various cores that it features.

Now, coming to the Geekbench benchmarking scores of the Vivo V2102A, it definitely showcases how much of a punch the upcoming Snapdragon 898 packs. The smartphone scores 720 points in the single-core tests and 1919 points in the multi-core tests. The listing also reveals that the smartphone will run on Android 12 right out of the box. 

Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC Specifications

Now, although other details of the Vivo V2102A are currently under wraps, we can certainly go through the chipset’s specifications to understand what to expect from the device on the performance front. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 specs have recently surfaced online. Going by the recent leaks, the chipset will be based on a four cluster core layout. Now, this will be configured in the 1+3+2+2 architecture.

Further, the Snapdragon 898 will come with four efficiency cores. Now, two of these will be clocked at high frequencies while the other two at low frequencies. Besides, the three cores present in the middle of the structure will basically be what be drive the main performance of the chipset. These three cores will be backed by a single main peak performance core. This primary core will feature the ARM X2 and be clocked at 3.09GHz.
