Moreover, the test is the latest attempt by the streaming service to combat password sharing. The trial will begin shortly in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. The sub-accounts, on the other hand, will have their own Netflix login and password, making this feature unique.

    Netflix users in the above-mentioned countries may add two extra members to their accounts for a monthly membership of 2,380 CLP in Chile, 2.99 USD in Costa Rica, and 7.9 PEN in Peru. In Costa Rica, the original Netflix package ranges from $8.99 to $15.99 per month.

    According to the company, If any of the extra users choose to start a new subscription, their watching history, watch list, and tailored suggestions may be carried across. Data from devices logged into a Netflix account across the home will be used, including IP addresses, device IDs, and other information. Netflix may then utilize this information to detect when continuous sharing occurs outside of a home.

    The principal account holder would get an email with a secret code that can be used to authorize other subaccounts, allowing users to access the new account sharing feature.
