Sony Hints At PlayStation Price Hike In The Next Few Months
Sony Interactive Entertainment has hinted at potential future price increases for its PlayStation Plus subscription service, despite executing a price hike just months ago. According to a translated Q&A session from a recent Game and Network Services meeting with top executives, including CEO Hideaki Nishino, the company remains heavily focused on maximising service margins.
Sony revealed that PlayStation Plus achieved record-high profitability in fiscal year 2025, driven largely by premium subscription tiers, which now account for over 40% of its user base. To sustain this financial momentum, management is evaluating multiple levers, including pricing adjustments and content acquisition efficiency.
When Will The Prices Rise?
Sony has not revealed any specific guideline or timeline regarding the price hikes. However, we expect that by the last quarter of 2026 or by the first quarter of 2027, the PlayStation price hikes will come to the game.
