Apple will release its new Apple iPhone 15 series on September 12. The new iPhones will go on sale a week later globally. According to reports, the Cupertino giant has started assembling the new iPhone 15 in India. These assembled phones will go on sale simultaneously with the global units. This generally happens a while after these devices go on sale, but Apple is also focusing on the Indian-assembled iPhones this time.

Apple has started manufacturing iPhone 15 models at Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu. Now, a new report by the Economic Times claims that these models will ship at the same time as the global release. It would be a significant milestone for Apple as it generally ships the iPhone in India late compared to its other markets.

Last year, it took ten days for the Wistron factory to start manufacturing the iPhone 14 models after their global launch. It took another month for these India-assembled iPhones to arrive on the market.

This year, there could be less delay as the company has already started manufacturing the iPhone 15 models in India. Initially, these devices will cater to the Indian audience, and the company will export them to other markets later. Once the festive season ends, Apple will start exporting these units to Europe and the USA in December.

Apple partners: Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron currently assemble all the iPhone models in India. The Foxconn plant is currently assembling the iPhone 15, and the Pegatron and Wistron plants will follow soon. Production for the iPhone 15 began in China in June, and the components arrived in Indian plants at the same time. The Foxconn plant will manufacture the base iPhone 15, while the Pegatraon plant will focus on the iPhone 15 Plus.

iPhone Is Now The Most Exported Electronic Item From India

Tata Group recently partnered with the Cupertino giant to become the first Indian company to manufacture Apple devices. According to a Bloomberg report, 7 per cent of all iPhones shipped worldwide are made in India. The company has taken advantage of the PLI scheme to localize the production of the iPhone and its accessories.

iPhones are the single largest contributor to electronic exports from India, with over 35 per cent of all electronic exports and 66 per cent of all mobile exports. Apple has become the country’s single largest mobile exporter, and electronics are now India’s fourth largest exported item.
