iPhone 16 Pro Leak: While the iPhone 15 series is still pending release, news regarding the next year’s iPhone 16 series has already surfaced. The latest updates focus on the camera specifications of the high-end models. The updates focus on the series, namely the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. Reports suggest that Apple intends to integrate a stacked camera design. The design is akin to the one observed in the iPhone 15 series, in the iPhone 16 Pro models.
iPhone 16 series: Available Information
Anticipated in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are periscope telephoto lenses. The lenses are accompanied by improved telephoto and ultra-wide camera optics. It’s worth noting that rumours suggest the periscope lens of the iPhone 16 Pro Max will incorporate either an “Ultra” or “Super Telephoto” lens setup. The set-up would offer a remarkable 6X optical zoom capability. This advanced lens system consists of seven elements and derives its power from Sony’s “super outsole” 1/1.14-inch image sensor.
The base iPhone 16 model is expected to switch from the current diagonal layout to a vertically aligned camera setup. This setup resembles the design seen in the Apple iPhone 12. As the launch of the iPhone 16 series is still a considerable time away, both enhancements and alterations are likely to be in the pipeline. However, consistent reports underscore a substantial camera upgrade as a key feature of the forthcoming iPhone 16 series.

iPhone 16 Pro: Camera Details
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Apple plans to introduce a stacked CIS (CMOS Image Sensor) design in the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models. This move aims to leverage the technology for improved image quality by stacking larger and multiple sensors. This move comes with exclusive orders from Sony. This potentially impacts the supply to other OEMs and potentially benefits Sony’s competitor, Will Semi.
Additionally, there’s anticipation that both the Apple iPhone 15 and Apple iPhone 15 Plus will incorporate a stacked CMOS image sensor design for their 48MP rear cameras. However, owing to limited availability, not all models within the iPhone 15 series might integrate this advanced sensor.
