Krafton India has renamed its upcoming lightweight battle royale game BGMI Lite to BGMI Air ahead of its expected launch in India later in 2026. The game has already crossed 10 million pre-registrations, showing strong interest among mobile gamers. The company has also confirmed that an open beta will arrive soon, allowing players to try the game before its official release.
BGMI Air aims to bring the core Battlegrounds Mobile India experience to users with limited phone storage and less powerful hardware. While the company has not announced an exact launch date, the new name and pre registration milestone have increased expectations around the upcoming release.
BGMI Air Features, Download Size And Beta Details
Krafton has confirmed that the name change will not affect its existing plans for the game. BGMI Air will offer a smaller download size while retaining the main gameplay experience of the original BGMI.
Here are the key details about BGMI Air:

- Initial Download Size: Around 1GB
- Pre Registrations: More than 10 million

Unlike the standard BGMI, which can require around 8GB of storage after downloading additional game files, BGMI Air aims to reduce storage requirements. Krafton has also stated that players will not need to download extra packages before starting their first match.
The company wants to make the game accessible to more users without removing the core battle royale experience.
India Launch: What Players Should Know
Krafton opened pre registrations for BGMI Air, originally announced as BGMI Lite, on August 25, 2026, through the Google Play Store in India. The company has now confirmed that the game will launch under its new name.
The upcoming open beta will give players an opportunity to test the game and share feedback with developers before the full release. However, Krafton has not revealed the beta schedule or the final launch date.
BGMI Air will also remain a separate game from the standard BGMI. Existing players will not need to transfer their accounts to play the new title.
With more than 10 million pre registrations, BGMI Air has generated considerable interest. Players now await further details about its beta release, device compatibility, and official launch in India.
