Nothing is expected to introduce its next major software update, Nothing OS 5.0, based on Android 17, later this year. Although the company has not officially announced the update, reports suggest the rollout could begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, likely around November if Nothing follows its previous release schedule.

The expected list is based on the Android update promises that Nothing made when these devices were launched. An official confirmation is still awaited.
Some Phones May Receive Their Final Major Android Update
The Android 17 devices list also indicates that the Nothing Phone (2a) and Nothing Phone (2a) Plus could receive their last major Android OS upgrade with Nothing OS 5.0. Both smartphones launched with Android 14 and were promised three major Android version updates. If Nothing follows its software policy, Android 17 will complete their promised upgrade cycle.
Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 are missing from the expected list. These devices already received their final promised Android version update with Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16. However, users of these phones should continue receiving security patches and maintenance updates for some time, depending on the company's support schedule.
Nothing officially rolled out Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 in November 2025. If the company maintains a similar timeline, Nothing OS 5.0 based on Android 17 could arrive around November 2026.
