Bharti Airtel, the second-largest telecom provider in India, has discontinued its Rs 249 prepaid plan, following in the footsteps of Reliance Jio. Interestingly, Reliance Jio claims it continues to offer its Rs 209 and Rs 249 plans—both providing 1GB of daily data—through offline retail outlets. So, let’s take a closer look at Bharti Airtel’s base 1GB per day data plan.

What Is Airtel Offering For Affordable Recharge?
With the Rs 249 recharge plan being discontinued, Airtel’s new entry-level 1GB per day data option will now be the Rs 299 plan. This revised plan includes unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and 1GB of daily data, valid for 28 days. Users will get an extended validity and will also push them towards a higher-priced option. There’s no official word yet on whether Airtel will introduce a replacement for the outgoing Rs 249 plan.
Meanwhile, users still have the option to choose the Rs 219 plan, which offers a total of 3GB of data along with 28 days of service validity. These changes are part of Airtel’s updated range of special prepaid offers. So, all the users will now stop seeing the Rs 249 Airtel recharge plan in their apps.
