New OTT Releases For This Week (June 2023)
There are multiple new movies and TV shows coming to your screens this weekend or even mid-week, with big names like Chris Hemsworth and Salman Khan returning to the screen. Here is a list of some new OTT releases this week.
1. Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 – Jio Cinema
The first name on our list and, undoubtedly one of the biggest ones, at least in the context of India is Bigg Boss OTT. The show is returning for a second season on June 17 and will be available to watch on Jio Cinema. The cast may include the likes of Munawar Faruqui, Aditya Narayan and Poonam Pandey this season.
For those curious, Bigg Boss OTT is a spin-off of the popular Hindi-language reality show Bigg Boss. Salkam Khan reprises his role as the host. The OTT version of the show was released back in 2021 and is set to return for its second season this week.
As part of the show, a group of contestants are placed in the Bigg Boss house for 90 days. In the house, they are subject to the eyes of cameras and are required to perform tasks. The popular and deserving candidates are moved ahead with one contestant being eliminated every week. At the end of the show, the winner receives a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.
2. Shaitan – Disney+ Hotstar
The next web series coming to your screens is Shaitan. Directed by Maahi Raghav, the Telugu series, dubbed to be a Drama show will be available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar and will stream starting June 15. The star cast of this show includes Devyani, Zafar Sadikh and Anisha Dama, amongst others.
The trailer for the web series mentions that blood and gore are a key part of the lives of the characters in the show. It follows their journey of crime as a means of survival in the gritty drama.
3. Extraction 2 – Netflix
The next on our list is Extraction which is returning for the second installation on Netflix. The first part was highly acclaimed and was one of the most popular titles in India and received plaudits from critics and fans. The protagonist of the movie is Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the main hero. Others in the star cast include Daniel Bernhardt, Ada Bessa and Tako Tabatadze.
The movie, which is set to hit the screens on Netflix from June 16, has a synopsis that mentions that Tyler Rake (played by Chris Hemsworth) after escaping death returns to save the family of a gangster, in a dangerous mission that tests his limits.
In case you forgot, the first part of the movie ended with an intense battle scene on a bridge, wherein Tyler is injured by Farhad, played by Suraj Rikame. This occurs after Tyler is relieved to see Ovi get to the other side of the bridge.
4. Rafuchakkar – Jio Cinema
Jio Cinema is on a roll when it comes to OTT releases. After releasing Mumbaikar earlier this month, with the likes of Vikrant Massey and Vijay Sethupathi, the platform is set to release another show in the form of Rafuchakkar. This is going to be Maniesh Paul’s debut in the OTT world. It focuses on a con man and will be available to stream starting June 15.
The official synopsis states that the show revolves around Pawan Kumar, aka Prince, a con man accused of scams ranging from low-cost airlines to biscuits. What follows is a question of whether he is a con man or an honest man stuck in a web.

5. I Love You – Jio Cinema
Another one of Jio’s releases, set to be available to stream starting June 16, I Love You is a web series featuring Rakul Preet Singh and Pavail Gulati. A mushy romance that turns into a thriller, it will be one to watch this weekend.
6. Jee Karda – Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime isn’t that far off from its competitors, with Tamannaah Bhatia’s Jee Karda set to take the audiences for a drama-filled ride with emotions, wherein the viewer goes through the lives of childhood friends with a deep bond, despite their differences.
The star cast includes the likes of Suhail Nayyar, Anya Singh, Sayan Banerjee and Samvendna Suwaika.
