Huawei Y9 (2019)

Huawei is wants to capture the mid-range market with the new Huawei Y9. Priced at Rs 15,990, the phone does not hold back in any aspect, making it a mid-range marvel.

As expected, the Huawei Y9 flourishes when it comes to camera performance. But that is not all. It does a brilliant job with its general performance and battery too. It looks good as well, coming with an attractive display. All in all, the Huawei Y9 is a marvellous phone and could be an excellent acquisition

Huawei is famous for offering great-looking phone, and the Huawei Y9 does just that. The phone has a 3D curved arc design present on its back which comfortably sits in your hand and is easily manageable. The glass panel is quite premium and has a premium finish to it. On the front, we are greeted with a big display and a thin chin accompanying it. The phone comes with the famous 3.5mm jack which Huawei has not yet ditched. The front has a notch which has two selfie cameras present. The only problem is that the phone still uses a micro USB port when most of its competitors like Motorola One Power and Nokia 6.1 Plus has moved on to USB Type-C standard. The volume and the power button has been placed on the right side in an ideal position. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear panel and makes sure that it is reachable.

Huawei Y9 (2019) boasts of a 6.5-inch LCD with a Full HD+ resolution of 2340 X 1080 pixels and a modern aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It’s quite similar to the Honor 8X. The top notch will not be irritating since the display is quite large and immersive. It is quite vibrant and bright too. Outdoors, the phone seems to be partially legible as well. All in all, it is a dynamic display and can provide you with an immersive experience with its punchy colour presentation.

The Huawei Y9 arrives with their mid-range Kirin 710 processor which had been previously seen in Huawei Nova 3i. The load times were minimal, and the UI animations were fast. Multitasking could be done quickly without any lag. According to Huawei, the GPU Turbo technology present on board has a processing efficiency that goes up to about 60 per cent. Hence, if you are looking to play games on this phone, it can run them too. However, massive games like Asphalt 9 can experience rare stutters.

Huawei Y9 (2019) carries four cameras, two on the back and two on the front. The front of the phone has a 16-MP primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP supporting sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. It clicks decent photos, and it is primarily in the portrait mode that the phone shines. The blur effect is satisfactory, and there is proper edge detection.

On the rear panel, the phone comes with a 13MP camera along with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The daylight shots come out quite decent with plenty of details present in it. At night, the images have a bit of visual noise, but the objects are still discernible. The camera app is quite good coming with Pro mode, intelligent scene detection which works wonderfully, panorama and also time-lapse. It also has a dedicated night mode which helps you to tweak the ISO and exposure.

The cameras, as expected from a Huawei phone, are brilliant

The phone comes with a massive 4,000mAh capacity. According to the company, it can provide 65 hours of music playback, 9 hours of gaming and 52 hours of talk time. It is quite impressive, and the large battery helps a lot with the phone. It can last for an entire day without a problem, even with moderate use.

Huawei Y9 is a capable phone with a large and immersive display along with excellent cameras. The performance of the phone does back up the phone well, which in turn is fueled with a large battery. All in all, the phone is a capable device which also looks good, standing out among metal-body phones like Redmi Note 6 Pro. It is a good phone to purchase if you are into photography and do not want to lose out on performance.
