About the Mobile Phone

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 pro pros & cons

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is one of the most feature-rich phones in its price range, with a luxury design, powerful octa-core engine, 48-megapixel camera, and support for fast charging. The phone has a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixel) LTPS In-Cell display that is covered by a Gorilla Glass 5 layer. The content on the display appears bright with crisp colours, but it is also extremely reflective. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 675 CPU with up to 6GB of RAM. The Redmi Note 7 Pro runs MIUI 10, which is based on Android 9 Pie, and while it is packed with features, it also comes with annoying advertisements.

Pros:

  • It features a stunning all-glass design that imparts a premium look to the phone.
  • It has a big 6.3-inch touchscreen with minimal bezels and a tiny notch on top.
  • It has a splash-resistant body and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection (both front and back).
  • It has a USB Type-C port
  • The battery life is excellent.
  • Both the front and rear cameras work pretty well in daylight as well as dimly lit conditions.
  • Both the Fingerprint Sensor and the AI Face Recognition feature work promptly to unlock the phone.

Cons:

  • There is no Quick Charge 4.0 charger bundled in the box.
  • There are some issues with ads and bloatware in the UI.
  • The phone gets warm while gaming.

Priced at just Rs. 13,999, the Redmi Note 7 Pro seems like a steal deal – it has a best-in-class processor, reliable battery life, a great pair of cameras, and of course, a super stylish look and design. It is difficult to find such useful features in phones under 15k.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro in February 2019. It sports a gorgeous 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Redmi Note 7 Pro Price in India

The price for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro falls in the affordable segment. Continuing to amaze the users with unique features, Xiaomi has launched this device for catering all the needs of millions of users belonging to a budget-friendly price range. Redmi Note 7 Pro comes in three variants. The 64GB storage model paired with 4GB RAM variant has a price of Rs 12,990, the mid-variant featuring a 6GB RAM variant with 64 internal storage coming with a price tag of Rs 13,599 on Flipkart. And at last, the third variant which comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage has run out of stock at all major stores. At the given price range Redmi is offering great stuff and all these price tags are as per the official site of Xiaomi. There are 5 colours are available for this smartphone device: Astro Moonlight White, Neptune Blue, Nebula Red, Red, and Space Black.

Breaking away from the metal-body design, Xiaomi has for the very first time opted for an all-glass design for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Note 7 Pro with Gorilla Glass 5, both on the front and back, to protect it from accidental drops and damages. The back panel flaunts a gradient colour texture that reflects light in interesting patterns at certain angles. You get the Nebula Red, Neptune Blue, and the Space Black colour variants, all of which look good. On the top left corner of the back panel, there’s a vertically-aligned dual camera module with a noticeable bump (considering the bigger sensor). The Fingerprint Sensor is placed conveniently in the top-middle portion of the back panel.

The front display has a tiny dot-notch that houses the selfie camera. The side bezels are thin, and there’s a small chin at the bottom. On the right side of the frame lie the volume rockers and the power button. The left side houses the dual-SIM tray, and on the bottom, you will find the USB Type-C port and the speaker grille. The 3.5mm headphone jack rests on the top part of the body.

A plus point for the Note 7 Pro is that it is dust and water resistant. The body of the phone is slightly on the thicker side, but comfortable to hold and use.

Redmi Note 7 Pro boasts of a 6.3-inch Full HD+LTPS in-cell display. LTPS in-cell display is energy savvy – it consumes much less power and generates less heat than standard IPS displays. The minimalist bezels and dot notch offer a big viewing space, which is great. The display has good colour reproduction, which, although is on the cooler side can be tweaked (MIUI comes with many built-in screen tuning abilities). The texts, images, and icons appear to be crisp and sharp (not as bright as AMOLED displays, but impressive for this price range). There’s also a blue-light filter that minimizes the eye strain by reducing the blue-light emission from the screen.

Another great thing about the display is that it comes with the Widevine L1 certification – now you can stream HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video!

While the display may not be able to match the Super AMOLED display of Samsung phones, but for the price, it does impress.

With the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Xiaomi faced a ton of criticism for the overall performance. So, Xiaomi decided to turn it up a notch in the Redmi Note 7 Pro by integrating an octa-core (2 GHz, dual-core, Kryo 460 + 1.7 GHz, Hexa Core, Kryo 460) Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. To handle the graphical performance, the phone also gets an Adreno 612 GPU. The Snapdragon 675 uses the same Cortex A76 cores that are seen in the Snapdragon 855.

The performance of the Note 7 Pro matches all expectations from a mid-range smartphone. Not only can it handle routine tasks with ease, but it can also handle games quite well, even PUBG and Asphalt. While it can handle most 3D games with ease, for games like  PUBG and Asphalt, we’d recommend that you switch to medium settings. This will ensure that you have a pleasant gaming experience minus the occasional frame rate drops and lags that usually pop under high settings. You will experience that the phone gets heated up much faster than the previous Note series phones.

As for the UI, the Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android Pie. The software comes with many useful and nifty features like second space, optional gesture controls, custom themes and much more. The user interface is similar to that of the Redmi Note 6 Pro. It is quite smooth and user-friendly.

The phone has a dual camera setup at the back – 48MP primary sensor (f/1.79 aperture) paired with a 5MP depth-sensor able to process images with 8000 x 4000 resolution. In daylight, the camera can capture a fair share of details without losing sharpness. Even the colours and contrast look good. For low-light settings, you get the Night Mode that can very well capture crisp shots with the right amount of detail. The Night Mode delivers results that are as good as those clicked by the OnePlus 6T. As for the Portrait Mode, it appears to be much better than offered by most phones in the same price bracket. Also, it has a more natural blur effect. The camera is loaded with lots of AI enhancement features and other modes like Panorama, Short Video, Pro, Group Selfie, etc. You can shoot 4K videos at 30fps with the rear cam. Since it has EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) feature, the videos look stable and sharp.

The 13MP front camera can capture detailed and excellent selfies. While the colours pop beautifully, the images also display a lot of detail. However, the camera struggles to perform in low-light conditions – mostly, the photos come out looking blurry and grainy.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro has a  4,000mAh non-removable battery. The battery can stretch through an entire day and even more, provided you use the phone for routine tasks like calling, texting, browsing, lightweight gaming. For prolonged gaming and video streaming sessions, the phone will tend to lose charge comparatively faster. While it does come with a Quick Charge 4.0 support, there’s no fast charger in the box.

It has all the essential connectivity options like the Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C port, dual-SIM, FM Radio, GPS with A-GPS and Glonass, and 2G/3G/4G support.

With the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi has been successful in bringing premium features down to the mid-range segment. As an affordable mid-range smartphone, the phone has a lot to offer. The powerful processor and the massive battery capacity make the Redmi Note 7 Pro a best-in-class performer.
