For premium experience and great functionality, the device is designed with concentric circles and added grip. There is a textured back which can be seen on any entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi. There is a square-shaped single camera on the rear side with no fingerprint sensor. On the front side, the device features a single selfie camera.
Redmi 9i is available in three colour variants: Midnight Black, Nature Green and Sea Blue.
The latest smartphone from Xiaomi is designed with 6.53-inch HD+ LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and resolution of 7201600 pixels. The reading mode is certified by TUV Rheinland for protecting eyes and reducing harmful blue light. Redmi 9i is offering 270nit of peak brightness along with screen to body ratio of 19.5:9 TFT-IPS.
For powering the device, the processor that has been included in Redmi 9i is Octa-core Helio G25 from MediaTek and capable of achieving 2.0 GHz clock speed. For sustained gaming and enhance connectivity, along with Helio G25, the device features Hyper Game Engines Technology. Apart from clock speed, there is dynamic and intelligent management between GPU, CPU and Memory. Redmi 9i comes with 4GB RAM in both variants and powered by Android 10 running on MIUI 12. Both variants support memory expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.
On the rear side, Redmi 9i is stuffed with 13MP camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and 1.0-micron pixel size, supporting 1080p video shooting at 30fps with autofocus. While on the front side there is a 5MP selfie camera, supporting 720p video shooting at 30fps. Both rear and front cameras are driven by AI scene detection technology, ensuring great shots by automatically adjusting the camera settings.
Under the hood, there is a 5000 mAh powerful battery with Enhanced Lifespan Battery (ELB) technology and features 2.5 years of life span along with 10W charging support. Although there is enough battery backup, Redmi 9i doesn’t support fast charging. Which means you won’t be able to recharge it quickly.
Apart from few shortcomings, Redmi 9i features an all-round performance for entry-level buyers who don’t need the advanced features, but require the basic ones for performing their tasks; this smartphone is then perfect for them.
