OPPO’s Reno series has brought impressive hardware in a complete package of a premium offering. With the company regularly updating its flagship ‘Reno’ series of smartphones, Oppo recently came out with the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G series of which the Reno5 Pro Plus 5G definitely grabs eyeballs.

The Reno5 Pro Plus 5G was made official in China and went on sale starting December 29. Starting at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 45,000) for the base variant, this newcomer is really a device to have a look upon due to the premium quality hardware and powerful internals which includes a curved display flaunting 90Hz refresh rate and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC under the hood. The device also offers an impressive quad-camera system and an efficient 4500mAh battery inside the all glass-design structure.

OPPO has a catalogue of well-designed phones up its sleeves and the Oppo Reno5 Pro Plus is the continuation of this legacy. Weighing at 184 grams, the device gets glass both at the front and at the back with an aluminium frame which promises a premium feel in hand.

The front has a flamboyant looking curved display with a tiny punch-hole to the top-left corner of the display. Flipping the device, you’ll find a rectangular quad-camera setup lying at the top-left corner. The back design is pretty simple with a familiar gradient finish and nothing special to talk about. You get to choose between Black and Blue colour options.

Talking about the sides, we get power button sides placed on the right side while the volume rockers are located on the left. The USB Type-C port is at the bottom along with a bottom-firing loudspeaker, a primary mic and the slot for the SIM-tray.

Upfront on the Reno5 Pro Plus is a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and a 402PPI density. With a 90Hz refresh rate, the panel comes with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz and HDR10 compliance for a vivid viewing experience. With a single-punch hole camera placed at the top-left corner, the device also offers an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Reno5 Pro Plus comes pre-loaded with Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 which is the latest version of Oppo’s custom UI. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 SoC manufactured on a 7nm node with octa-cores clocked a maximum frequency of 2.84GHz coupled with the Adreno 650 GPU to take care of the graphics processing. The device has 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage options to choose from which can be clubbed with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

OPPO has been known to throw the major spotlight on the camera performance of its smartphones. Talking about the Reno5 Pro Plus, we get an impressive quad-camera system at the back which flaunts a 50MP primary lens that gets an f/1.8 aperture and support for PDAF and OIS. The secondary is a 13MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and gets coupled by a tertiary 16MP ultrawide sensor with an aperture of f/2.2. Lastly, there is a 2MP depth sensor sitting in the fourth position. The rear camera gets dual-LED and can record 4K videos at up to 60fps. On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.4, which is capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Oppo Reno5 Pro Plus is equipped with a colossal 4500mAh battery which flaunts an impressive 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology. The device also supports reverse charging which is getting common nowadays.
