OPPO A53s 5G

In December last year, OPPO brought the OPPO A53 5G to the Indian smartphone market and today the Chinese smartphone company unveiled its successor, OPPO A53s 5G in India. Oppo A53s is intended to make a mark in the affordable section with the latest 5G technology, competitive processor and a large battery. So let’s check what are the other features that come with OPPO A53s 5G. Here is an overview of this newly launched affordable 5G device. 

OPPO A53s 5G Price in India 

There are two variants features by the OPPO brand this time. The first variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and the second variant features 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. OPPO A53s 5G price for the 6GB RAM variant is Rs.14,990 and for the 8GB RAM variant, the price is Rs.16,990. Although there is 5G, the price tag is too high for the rest of the features. 

The design language is something that you’ll see in almost every smartphone below the 10K price range. Since OPPO A53s belongs to the sub-15K price category, the display on the front should have been provided with a punch-hole instead of the V-shaped notch. Also, the thick chin at the bottom is quite outdated these days. There is no Gorilla Glass protection on the front. 

The rear side features only two things, one is the camera module and another is company branding. The rest of the rear side comes with a plain look, appearing quite attractive. The fingerprint sensor comes integrated with the power button on the right edge. 

The volume rockers are there on the left side along with the SIM Tray, while the 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker grille and charging port is there at the bottom. Since there is a 5000 mAh battery under the hood, the smartphone would be a little bulky. 

OPPO A53s display is the first drawback of this smartphone. OPPO has provided a 6.52-inch TPS LCD display with just 720-pixel resolution along with a 60Hz refresh rate. At the same price, if you’ll go with the Redmi Note 10, there is a Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. 

The performance section is the only highlighting features of the OPPO A53s. although the rest of the features are stripped by Oppo, here they haven’t compromised. They have provided the best chipset, the MediaTek Helio 700 5G along with 8GB RAM and 128Gb internal storage. Also, OPPO A53s supports Dual-SIM 5G compatibility.

On the software front, OPPO A53s 5G runs on the ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11.

Coming to the second drawback, it is the camera setup of the OPPO A53s. A mere 13MP camera setup on the rear at the given price tag doesn’t make any sense. There is a 13Mp primary camera on the rear along with a 2MP macro lens and another 2MP camera. On the front, the story is the same with an 8MP selfie camera. At the same price, Samsung Galaxy F41 offers a 64MP triple rear camera along with a 32MP selfie camera. 

The camera setup that has been offered in the OPPO A53s can be seen in the Realme C15, which is priced at Rs. 8999. There should have been at least a 48MP quad-camera setup with an ultra-wide camera included. 

Although, oppo has offered a large 5000 mAh battery to make an interesting deal, what is the fun of having such a large battery when there is no fast charging option and it takes hours to refill the battery. There should have been at least 18W fast charging support included with the OPPO A53s 5G. 

There is a meagre display, a below-average camera and an absence of fast charging. However, if 5G connectivity, chipset and storage are the specs you are looking for at the given price tag, then you can consider Oppo A53s 5G. But you might consider other options at the same price.
