  • Earlier this year, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 12S Ultra in China. The 12S Ultra won’t be introduced in other markets and will continue to be unique to the company’s domestic market, according to the company. At the time of the announcement, Xiaomi made no mention of the reasons it did not plan to introduce the 12S Ultra outside of China. For those who are interested in trying out the Ultra experience, Xiaomi has stated that the next high-end flagship, probably the Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra, will release in all major regions.

Lei Jun, the top executive at Xiaomi, confirmed the global launch on Twitter, so the information is authentic. The name of the future flagship smartphone was kept a secret by Jun. Xiaomi is likely to introduce the device as the 13 Ultra, though.

It is fair to assume that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will make its debut in 2023’s Q2 or Q3 based on the update cycle. This indicates that the next Ultra phone will not go on sale for some months. Xiaomi may decide to introduce the phone using the next Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is likely to appear in November.

Leica-tuned cameras with a 1-inch main camera may also come with the 13 Ultra. The 12-S Ultra’s large 1-inch Sony IMX989 50-megapixel main camera is its standout feature.
