The instant messaging service app WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, may be developing a new calling feature. According to sources from WABetaInfo, a calling shortcut feature will be there in a future version of the app. According to reports, the functionality is still being under process and has not yet been available to beta testers. In addition to several other new features that are planned to launch in 2023, it was previously revealed that WhatsApp has been working on a new feature that will allow users to send high-resolution photographs.

WhatsApp is developing a calling shortcut feature
In a recent beta rollout of the app, WhatsApp is developing a calling shortcut function. A new calling shortcut function will be there in the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.23.3.15 update. This feature might appear in a later version of the app. Users of the new function will be able to make a calling shortcut for a particular contact, which will then be there immediately on the home screen.
Through the introduction of a straight shortcut to a convenient home screen position, the new functionality will enable users to shorten the duration of a WhatsApp call to a contact. Currently, a device’s WhatsApp app can be open and the contact’s chat can be accessible to accomplish the same task. Those who make frequent contacts, etc., would find this function especially useful.
However, the feature is still under development and will initially be available to beta testers to smooth out any flaws or kinks in the new addition. A stable upgrade to the instant messaging apps will then include the feature.
