Samsung S27 Ultra Features Leak Out: 5 Upgrades That Could Challenge iPhone 18 Pro Max

Samsung S27 Ultra Features

The Samsung S27 Ultra features are slowly starting to leak online, giving us an early look at what Samsung could bring to its next flagship. While the Galaxy S27 Ultra is still months away, reports suggest Samsung could introduce several notable upgrades in display, performance, cameras and battery.

Interestingly, some of these changes could help Samsung keep up with Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max, which is also expected to bring major hardware upgrades. Here are five of the biggest Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra upgrades tipped so far.

Samsung S27 Ultra Features Leak

1. M16 OLED display

One of the biggest Samsung S27 Ultra features leak could be its new display technology. Reports claim Samsung may use the company's latest M16 OLED material for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

The new panel material is expected to improve areas such as brightness, colour reproduction, power efficiency and durability. The Galaxy S26 Ultra already introduced advanced display technology, so the M16 upgrade could make the S27 Ultra's screen one of its biggest selling points.

Interestingly, Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also expected to use M16 display technology. This means Samsung may be taking a similar step in display technology for its next Ultra phone.

2. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

Samsung is also reportedly preparing a major performance upgrade. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.

Unlike some previous Galaxy S Ultra generations, reports suggest Samsung could use the Snapdragon chip across markets instead of depending on an Exynos variant.

The new processor should bring improvements in performance and efficiency, although the final specifications are still unconfirmed.

3. A new 200MP main camera

Camera upgrades could also be part of the Samsung S27 Ultra features package. Earlier leaks have pointed to a new 200MP HP6 main camera sensor, replacing the HP2 sensor used on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Samsung could also make changes to the rest of the camera setup. Reports suggest the company may remove one of the existing telephoto cameras while focusing on improving the main sensor and other imaging hardware.

The front camera could also receive an upgrade, with the S27 Ultra reportedly moving from a 12MP selfie camera to a 16MP sensor.

4. Bigger 5,700mAh battery

Samsung could finally increase the battery capacity of its Ultra flagship. The Galaxy S27 Ultra feautres leak suggest a pack of 5,700mAh battery, compared with the 5,000mAh unit on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

If this leak is accurate, the larger battery could give the S27 Ultra more room for handling a brighter display, a faster processor and AI-related workloads.

The phone is also tipped to support 60W wired charging, along with 25W wireless charging and possible MagSafe-style magnetic charging support.

5. Faster memory and storage

Another reported upgrade is the move to newer memory and storage standards. Earlier leaks suggested Samsung could bring LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage to the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

However, these details are less certain than some of the other upgrades. Reports have suggested Samsung may have dropped some of the planned upgrades to control costs.

This is why the final S27 Ultra specification sheet could look different when Samsung officially announces the phone.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is still a long way from its expected launch, so none of these specifications should be treated as confirmed yet. Still, the combination of a new M16 display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, a revised 200MP camera, a larger battery and possible next-generation memory could make Samsung's next Ultra phone a strong premium competitor.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely have its own major upgrades, but Samsung appears to be preparing the Galaxy S27 Ultra with enough changes to keep the flagship battle interesting.
