WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has announced that it is ending support for older Android phones. If you use an older Android phone, you will need to upgrade to continue using the application. The company is dropping support for older phones from January 1, 2025.
WhatsApp Ends Support For These Aging Android Phones
WhatsApp has revealed that phones running on Android KitKat or older will no longer support the application. This will be effective starting January 1, 2025.

As WhatsApp continues to add new features, AI functionalities and more, it will only support new hardware. Here are some of the Android phones that will no longer support WhatsApp:
- Motorola: Moto G (1st Generation), Motorola Razr HD, Motorola Moto E
- Samsung: Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy Ace 3. Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
- HTC: HTC One X, HTC One X+, HTC Desire 500, HTC Desire 601
- LG: LG Optimus G, LG Nexus 4, LG G2 Mini, LG L90
- Sony: Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia SP, Sony Xperia T, Sony Xperia V
