According to the news, Vodafone- Idea(Vi), the mobile network operator, has joined hands with the smartphone maker, One Plus. Vi and OnePlus came together to make India’s 5G services accessible.
This news came out before India Mobile Congress’s tech event (IMC2022). The tech event will take place from October 1, 2022, to October 4, 2022, in New Delhi. On this occasion, PM Modi will launch the 5G services.
What we know so far
OnePlus already has a wide range of Android-based 5G devices that are used in India. The flagship devices such as the latest OnePlus 10T, OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 10R, Nord 2T, Nord CE 2 Lite, and Nord CE2 are already tested on 5G Spectrum bands acquired by Vodafone Idea.
OnePlus is the leading 5G smartphone brand on online channels. This data is known from the recent Counterpoint India Channel share tracker for Q2 2022. It is under the bar of Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 30,000 segment in the first half of 2022. This is assumed to be linked to the decision made by Vi.
Vi and OnePlus together are working to make 5G services accessible to all, as stated by the companies. They said they would come together to help the 4G customers upgrade to 5G services. Vi also confirmed that it would partner with various OEMs for this new accessibility.
Vi and OnePlus Plans
Also, during the 5G mega spectrum auction, the company got 6,228MHz of airwaves across 1800MHz,2100MHz,2500MHz,3300MHz, and 26MHz bands for Rs. 18,799 crores.
But the exact plan is not rolled out by Vi; on the other hand, Jio and Airtel are already on the way to launching their new services by the next week. They plan to complete the pan-India availability by the end of the year.
