  • Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile chipset is already making headlines months before launch. A fresh leak has revealed key Snapdragon 8 Elite specs, giving us an early look at what the company may unveil in September 2026. According to the leaks, Qualcomm is preparing not one, but two premium processors under the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup. These are likely to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, marking a shift toward a more tiered flagship strategy.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen Pro will launch soon

The leak suggests Qualcomm is working on two chip models, identified as SM8950 and SM8975. Both chipsets are reportedly built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which could deliver better performance and improved efficiency.

Both variants are said to feature a 2+3+3 CPU setup, balancing power and energy use. However, the real differences appear in graphics, memory, and cache capabilities.

Here are the key Snapdragon 8 Elite specs:

    Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975):

    • Adreno 850 GPU
    • 18MB GMEM
    • LPDDR6 memory (4×24 configuration)
    • LPDDR5X support
    • 8MB LLC cache

    Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950):

    • Adreno 845 GPU
    • 12MB GMEM
    • LPDDR5X memory (4×16 configuration)
    • 6MB LLC cache

The Pro variant clearly targets top-end flagship phones, while the standard version may power a wider range of premium devices.

The leak also hints at strong competition in the flagship segment. The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 could sit between the two Snapdragon chips in performance, making the race tighter than ever.

In addition, Qualcomm is reportedly developing a separate Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chip. Early details suggest it may not match the Elite series in terms of raw specifications, possibly positioning it below the flagship tier.

Another important detail is cost. The SM8975 Pro variant may be expensive to produce, which could limit its availability to ultra-premium smartphones. Meanwhile, the SM8950 is expected to see broader adoption.

With these leaks, Qualcomm’s 2026 flagship lineup already looks more competitive and diverse than ever.
