Buying a new smartphone could soon become more expensive in India. According to industry sources, several leading brands, including Samsung, Oppo, Realme, Xiaomi, and Redmi, are preparing for a smartphone price hike starting in the first week of August. The expected increase may range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000, depending on the model and storage variant.
The reported price revision comes as smartphone makers continue to face rising production costs, especially due to increasing prices of memory components such as RAM and NAND flash storage. Demand from AI data centres has reportedly put additional pressure on the global supply chain, making components more expensive.
Smartphone Prices Hike: Which Models Could Be Affected?
Sources suggest that Samsung may increase prices across several budget and mid range Galaxy smartphones. Oppo, Realme, and Redmi are also expected to revise prices for selected devices.

Samsung smartphones that may get a price hike:

These devices currently retail between Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 22,499, with prices expected to rise by Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000.

- Other A Series models
Current prices range from Rs. 19,999 to Rs. 24,999.

Memory Costs Drive Price Increase
The upcoming smartphone prices hike is largely linked to rising memory chip costs. Industry reports indicate that higher demand for RAM and NAND storage from AI infrastructure has pushed up component prices globally. Smartphone manufacturers are now passing part of these increased costs on to consumers.

None of the companies have officially announced the price changes so far. While Realme has declined to comment, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo are yet to respond to reports.
