
The Redmi 17 5G is officially coming to India, and the smartphone will arrive with a bigger battery than the global model. Xiaomi’s sub-brand has confirmed the India launch date through a dedicated Amazon microsite, revealing key details about the upcoming 5G smartphone.
The Redmi 17 5G will launch in India on September 3. It will be sold through Amazon and will be available in three colour options - Absolutely Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange. The Indian version will retain the same overall design as the global model.
Redmi 17 India Launch Date
The Redmi 17 5G had already debuted in select global markets on August 10, where the base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage started at MYR 769, roughly Rs 18,000. The company is expected to reveal more information about the smartphone on September 2, just one day before the India launch.

The Indian and global versions are expected to have largely identical specifications, with the 7,900mAh battery being the major difference.

Redmi 17 5G Gets 7,900mAh Battery in India
One of the biggest highlights of the Indian Redmi 17 5G is its battery. The smartphone will pack a 7,900mAh battery, which is larger than the 7,500mAh battery offered with the global version.
The phone will also support 45W wired fast charging. It will get 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing users to use the Redmi 17 5G as a power source for compatible devices.
Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. This will make the Redmi 17 5G one of the budget-focused 5G smartphones to watch when it arrives in India.

Redmi 17 5G Specifications Revealed
The Redmi 17 5G will feature a large 6.9-inch flat display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate should make scrolling and animations feel smoother.
For photography, the smartphone will feature a dual rear camera setup. The primary camera will use a 50-megapixel sensor, while the specifications of the secondary rear camera have not yet been revealed.
On the front, the Redmi 17 5G will feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The sensor will sit inside a hole-punch cutout on the display and will be used for selfies and video calls.
