  • MediaTek has announced that its new Dimensity 9400 chipset launch date. It is expected to launch before Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The chipset’s slogan, “AI Chip Leap,” suggests it will bring advanced AI features to upcoming phones like the Oppo Find X8 and Oppo Find X8 Pro.

    The Dimensity 9400 will continue using a powerful all-large-core CPU design like its predecessor. It will feature the ARM ‘BlackHawk’ architecture, which boosts performance. It has been reported that MediaTek is using the N3E (3nm) process from TSMC to build the chipset, making it more efficient.

    MediaTek announced on its official Weibo account that it will launch its next-generation flagship chip, the Dimensity 9400, on October 9. Recent reports show that the GPU (graphics processing unit) in the Dimensity 9400 performed much better than Apple’s A18 Pro in the GFXBench Aztec 1440p test. In fact, it even outdid the PC-class M4 processor.

    The Dimensity 9400 reached a Vulkan frame rate of 134 fps in the test, which is 86% faster than the A18 and about 41% better than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This means the Dimensity 9400 offers impressive graphics performance, making it great for high-end gaming and apps and we can expect more details closer to the launch date.

    The Dimensity 9400 includes:

    • 3.63 GHz Cortex-X925 super core
    • Three 2.80 GHz X4 large cores
    • Four 2.10 GHz A725 cores
    • Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12 GPU for powerful graphics.

    The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 supports 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X memory, making apps and games load faster. In Geekbench tests, it scored 2874 (single-core) and 8969 (multi-core). It outperformed the Apple A18 Pro by 86% in gaming, with 134fps in the GFX Aztec 1440P test. It also scored 41% higher than last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.

    The GPU performance is 30% better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in 3D Mark tests, while power consumption is 40% lower. Ray tracing is also improved by 20% compared to the previous version, making games look even more realistic.
