Apple is set to release iOS 18.5 update to the public in the coming days. This comes following the rollout of the release candidate version to beta testers earlier this week. Once available, the update will introduce a few significant changes, including updates to the Apple TV app on third-party devices and improvements to the Screen Time feature. Additionally, Apple iPhone 13 users will gain access to satellite capabilities through supported network providers. So, read ahead for all the details on this.
iOS 18.5 Update: Changes And Features
Apple’s changelog for the iOS 18.5 update release candidate sheds light on what’s coming in the next update. One key addition is an enhancement to Screen Time: parents will now receive a notification whenever the passcode used to manage restrictions is entered on their child’s device. This feature is useful for catching attempts to bypass parental controls.

The update also brings satellite connectivity to select iPhone 13 models. However, this isn’t the same as the Globalstar-powered emergency features found on the iPhone 14 and newer. Instead, it relies on carrier-based solutions—like Starlink Direct from SpaceX, available to T-Mobile users in the U.S.
What Other Updates To Expect With This Rollout?
Apple is also simplifying the purchasing process in the Apple TV app on third-party devices with the iOS 18.5 update. A new “Buy with iPhone” option lets users complete transactions directly from their iPhone, making it easier and more secure to purchase content.
In addition, iOS 18.5 will fix a bug that caused the Apple Vision Pro app to display a black screen for some users—a problem introduced in iOS 18.4 when the app debuted for Vision Pro owners. The update also brings some visual flair with the inclusion of a new Pride Harmony wallpaper, already available in the latest iOS 18.5 release candidate.
These enhancements and fixes are expected to arrive in the final version of iOS 18.5, which could be released as soon as next week—unless Apple decides to issue a second release candidate.
