HTC has been building anticipation for its comeback to the smartphone market since MWC 2022. It said that it has been working on a new metaverse-centered smartphone that will be out on June 28, 2022. After hearing that it had been delayed, we now know that it will be released soon. Company has revealed that the Viverse phone will be formally unveiled later this month.
HTC has certainly had better days. During the early to mid-2010s, it was at the top of its game. This was prior to Samsung and Apple effectively monopolising the smartphone market. Many people forget that the firm used to manufacture outstanding phones before it faltered in the late 2010s. It is still struggling to reclaim its place in the spotlight.
HTC Will Unveil Its Viverse Phone This Month
For the time being, company is keeping its upcoming phone under wraps. As a result, it’s difficult to predict what we may expect from this phone. What we do know is that it will be heavily focused on the metaverse (or Viverse). HTC, like Meta, Microsoft, and TCL, appears to envision a future in the metaverse.
It would seem strange that the company would re-enter the fray with a Metaverse-focused phone, but there is one factor to consider. While its reputation as a smartphone OEM deteriorated, company developed a slew of different VR headsets over the years. HTC has previously had a foot in the Metaverse.
It’s difficult to predict what specifications to expect from this phone. In order to provide a pleasant viewing experience, the display (if utilised as a VR display) must be pixel-dense. Aside from that, it will require a strong SoC for smooth operation.
The phone’s official launch is still a few weeks away, so we’ll have to wait for more information. We’ll have to wait for the phone or for some leaks to appear.
