Honor is preparing to introduce its most unusual smartphone yet. The Honor Robot Phone specs have reportedly surfaced online ahead of its August 12 launch in China. The phone will be Honor’s first smartphone to feature a gimbal camera, making its camera system the biggest talking point.

The company has also partnered with German film equipment maker ARRI to develop the device. While Honor has not confirmed all the details, a new leak has revealed key information about its processor, display, battery, charging and cameras.

The leaked specifications suggest the phone could offer the following features:

    • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset
    • Display: 6.3-inch flat display, 1,216 x 2,640 pixel resolution, up to 6,800 nits peak brightness, with AR anti reflective film
    • Battery: 7,060mAh battery, with 120W wired fast charging
    • Camera: Triple rear camera setup

The display is expected to offer a high brightness level, which could improve outdoor visibility. The large battery and 120W charging support could also make the phone appealing to users who want long battery life without waiting too long for a full charge.

200-megapixel Gimbal Camera Could Be The Highlight

The camera system could be the biggest attraction of the Honor Robot Phone. The handset is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel primary gimbal camera with an f/1.6 aperture, a 1/1.28 inch sensor and a 23mm equivalent focal length.

The phone may also feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f/2.6 aperture and a 1/1.4 inch sensor. The gimbal mechanism could help improve stabilization and allow the camera to follow moving subjects more effectively.

Honor has confirmed that the Robot Phone will launch in China on August 12. It is reportedly expected in Moon Shadow Gray and Star Trail Silver colours. The phone could also be offered in 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB configurations. More official details, including pricing and availability, should emerge at the launch.
