With more and more players lamenting about the major disappointment that Battlefield 2042 has been, details of a new Battlefield game have already been unveiled. The Battlefield Series started to go down since the release of Battlefield V back in 2018. However, a new report by XFire has now revealed DICE’s plans for a new game, further expanding the franchise. In fact, the game has already entered the pre-production phase.
In an attempt to push boundaries with Battlefield 2042, the installment went down like a lead balloon. So and so that DICE has had to revert back certain changes in the game. The Featured Experiences section of the Battlefield Portal was pretty much nerfed yesterday. Battlefield 2042 is falling apart faster than any of the games in the franchise. However, DICE has reportedly learned “valuable lessons” from the game and will reverse them in the new game.

DICE Expanding Battlefield Series With A New Game
The futuristic take on things that DICE experimented with in Battlefield 2042 was not well-received AT ALL. They could not achieve what they set out to do and hence, failed to do justice to the futuristic setting. Keeping this in mind, DICE has decided to go for a modern-day setting with its new Battlefield Series game. DICE is planning on keeping its nose to the grindstone with this one, from the looks of it.

If the report stands true and DICE is indeed working on a new game, they would surely want to not retread the debacle that Battlefield 2042 has been. At one point, the game’s player base numbers dipped below the numbers of Battlefield IV itself. This Battlefield Series game is nine years old now and THIS is not good news for DICE and EA.
It will not be long before EA and DICE maybe even have to close the lid on this painful chapter. With a lot of cash and profits being hemorrhaged by Battlefield 2042, it is difficult to say if the upcoming game will be able to keep the Battlefield Series alive. Only time will tell whether the new game will be able to make a difference in the series or just further boost the Battlefield fatigue that is already setting in.
