These models have already received the OxygenOS 16 update based on Android 16, which marks the end of their major Android upgrade cycle.
What It Means For OnePlus Users
Owners of the ColorOS 17 unsupported devices will continue to receive security patches for a limited period, helping keep their devices protected against security threats. However, they will not get the latest Android 17 features, interface improvements, AI enhancements, or other new capabilities included in ColorOS 17.
Users who want long term software support may consider upgrading to one of OnePlus' newer smartphones. The company now promises up to four major Android OS upgrades for many of its latest flagship devices and selected Nord models, offering a longer software lifecycle than previous generations.
Although missing a major software update does not make these phones unusable, future apps and features may increasingly target newer Android versions. Buyers planning to purchase a new OnePlus device should also check the company's software update policy before making a decision.
As OnePlus prepares to begin the ColorOS 17 rollout, eligible smartphones will receive the update in phases. The final rollout schedule and supported device list are expected to be announced soon.
