
OPPO has officially unveiled ColorOS 17, its new Android 17-based operating system, bringing a refreshed design, smoother performance and a range of AI-powered features. The company announced the software at its developer conference, while the ColorOS 17 rollout for supported OPPO, OnePlus and Realme devices in China will begin on October 8.
The update introduces a new Fluid Design along with improved animations and several system-level performance upgrades. Eligible Realme phones will also move to ColorOS 17 as Realme UI is being discontinued in China.
ColorOS 17 Brings New AI And Performance Features

ColorOS 17 focuses heavily on AI and smoother everyday performance. OPPO says its new Polar Light Engine can reduce application startup and runtime memory usage by up to 25%, while reducing rendering workload by 30%.
The Tidal Engine also brings personalised resource management and improved background app retention.
Key features include:
- AI Photo Editor for removing unwanted objects, reducing motion blur and adjusting colours.
- Reference Image Replication to apply the visual style of one image to another.
- AI Notes with information summaries, one tap sharing and Inspiration Moment cards.
- AI Assistant Ball weighing 9.8 grams with up to 24 hours of usage.
- Smart Screen Reading for reading on screen content aloud.
- AI anti fraud protection using personalised behaviour modelling.
- Care Mode for quick access to accessibility and safety settings.
- 2K ProXDR imaging support.

OPPO also says ColorOS 17 can improve third party app scrolling and loading speeds by up to 50%, while app switching can become 15% faster.
ColorOS 17 Rollout Schedule For China
The first devices to ship with ColorOS 17 will include the upcoming OPPO Find X10 series, OnePlus 16 and OPPO Watch S2.
The stable rollout will start with these devices in China:
From October 8:
- OPPO Find X9 series and selected Find N6 models
- OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15T
- Realme GT8 Pro series
The rollout will expand to more OPPO, OnePlus and Realme smartphones through October, November and December. Some older devices will receive the update in the first quarter of 2027.
For now, this schedule applies only to China. OPPO has not yet announced the global ColorOS 17 rollout schedule.
